A Northwestern University professor who ran the school's "Innocence Project" is starting a non-profit organization called the "Chicago Innocence Project" that will be independent of the university. Professor David Protess, who was recently told by the school that he wouldn't be teaching the Spring quarter due to student conduct under his watch, plans to start his own non-profit aimed at exposing wrongful convictions in the criminal justice system.
