Chicago-area homeowners are failing to stay current on their mortgages at a higher rate than the rest of Illinoisans and residents of other states, according to a new report.
In the Chicagoland area, some 7.75 percent of homeowners were behind on their mortgage payments by 60 days or more compared to 6.5 percent for the state and 6.19 percent of Americans as whole, according to credit reporting company TransUnion.
