The Chicago Public Schools board voted unanimously to rescind a four percent salary increase earmarked for educators in the Chicago Teachers Union contract. According to CPS officials, about 75 percent of teachers would still get a raise based on senority and another 11 percent will get a salary increase due to education level despite the absense of the four percent bump in pay.
The Chicago Teachers Union must indicate whether they will accept the decision to rescind the pay increase or want to open negotiations on the issue by Monday.
