EMILY's List has put U.S. Rep. Bobby Schilling (R-17) "on notice" for his "appauling anti-woman, anti-family records." The group says politicians are also put "on notice" when there is a viable female Democratic candidate "waiting in the wings" that could unseat him or her.
“Rep. Bobby Schilling rode the conservative Tea Party wave to victory in 2010. Since then, he has pulled a bait and switch – failing to focus on his campaign promise of jobs – instead prioritizing an anti-woman, anti-family agenda,” said Stephanie Schriock President of EMILY’s List.
“In Washington, Schilling has voted in lock-step with the GOP’s radical right wing agenda. He voted to defund Planned Parenthood and earlier this year helped bring the government to brink of a shutdown over access to women’s health care and cancer screenings. Just this month, Republicans proved they were willing to gamble with the nation’s fiscal solvency to advance their partisan agenda. Illinois’s 17th district is a prime pick-up opportunity for Democrats where voters are frustrated with Schilling’s backwards priorities and are eager for change. EMILY’s List members have been energized by the strong Democratic female candidates leading the way forward into 2012 and are eager to put this Tea Party protégée officially, ‘On Notice.’”
