Former State Senator Rickey Hendon owes the IRS more than $31,000 taxes. Hendon's hefty tax bill is due to unpaid federal income taxes and penalties for 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. 

Hendon was elected to the state Senate in 1993. The legislator resigned a shortly after federal investigators subpoenaed five state agencies for information on contracts and financial records on some 50 not-for-profits and several individuals, many of which were linked to Hendon.
