Former Mayor Richard Daley will soon see half of his security detail go to the wayside. Come this Thursday, Daley's security staff will decrease to three active duty police officers from the six that are currently accompanying the former Chicago mayor and his wife around town and, sometimes, on trips outside of the city. The other three cops from Daley's security detail will go back to street duty.
Earlier this summer, Ald. Ed Burke (14th) saw his long-time security detail get cut as well. His new detail consists of two retired police officers as opposed to the four active-duty cops made up his security staff at the time new Mayor Rahm Emanuel called for the reduction.
