Wisconsin governor Scott Walker says he will investigate the unemployed to make sure that they doing enough to get a job and may create new benchmarks to receive unemployment extension benefits.
At one of the governor's invitation-only jobs forums with business executives, Walker was reportedly told that many of the companies had job openings but could not find people to fill the positions because the unemployed want to avoid getting a position in order to get unemployment benefits for as long as possible. Walker said that he while he supported the state's recent extension of unemployment benefits, he wanted to investigate to make sure that people who are receiving the benefits are meeting enough of the program's requirements.
Leaders of the state's Democratic party are slack-jawed at the governor's questioning of the unemployed's attempts to find work.
"Even with his promotion of seasonal and low-wage jobs, unemployment has spiked under Scott Walker, rising from 7.4 percent to 7.9 percent. Along with a Republican Legislature that forces people laid off from their jobs to wait a week for the benefits they need to feed their families, Scott Walker is joining in the demonizing of job seekers put out of work for the very policies of reckless greed they celebrate," said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate.
I don't know what the requirements are in Wisconsin to continue receiving unemployment benefits, but I don't see it as unreasonable to make assurances that people are meeting those standards.
The government sets standards and test for many businesses - why not for unemployment as well?
If someone has an opportunity to get a job but turns it down just to stay on collecting unemployment benefits then their unemployment benefits should be terminated.

But first he has to learn the difference between EUC and EB (which undoubtedly he doesn't know right now). Then he can go about learning how EUC and EB are funded, high EB and low EB, the criteria already in place (I'm sure he'll be shocked to learn that a work record has to be submitted), etc. This'll take a while. As Governor of the state, I'd expect him to know it already. But anyone who says he hopes that people are meeting "enough" of the requirements already doesn't understand that this isn't like a "best out of three", and you either qualify to receive benefits--or you don't.
Btw, "investigating the unemployed" (as if they are criminals) is an interesting choice of words. I'd worry far more about his own actions in his state than in any actions of his unemployed constituents.
[If someone has an opportunity to get a job but turns it down just to stay on collecting unemployment benefits then their unemployment benefits should be terminated.]
At first glance, I didn't see any specifics about the financial requirement for EB satisfaction in WI. However, it should be noted that in OUR state (IL), the LAW states that in order to qualify for EB, "you must look for work that pays the minimum wage or your weekly benefit amount including any supplemental unemployment benefits, WHICHEVER IS MORE." Claimants do not have to apply for a minimum wage job if those earnings would be less than their weekly benefit amount (and any supplemental benefit, i.e., the Obama FAC $25, which ended in 12-10 anyway). However, because things are so very bad, you see many doing it regardless--but the bottom line is that that's not the law.
We all know it only takes 15 to 20 minutes each week to surf the web and record five of your favorite jobs and submit them to IDES and…. Ta da…… suddenly, your claim has been accepted. Perhaps this long overdue investigation is what they’re speaking of. Means testing is next. All these actions will free benefits for those who really need them.
Beleive it or not there were many feigned job search records submitted during this recession.
For quite some time, IDES was contacting claimants long after the fact to meet with them and show proof of what they'd put down on their work search sheets. And the red flag was waved when a claimant had nothing but, let's say, craigslist box number submissions. IDES was looking for a nice mix--craigslist, certainly, but also in-person applications and online applications at job sites, and recruiters/agencies as well.
There's no need for means testing. Unemployment benefits are not welfare. They're insurance. No matter how many other ways you wish to define them, that's what they are--an insurance benefit. The employer pays into the pot as part of your overall salary and benefits package. And in three states, the employee pays for them directly.
I agree with you that regular & EB unemployment compensation are both benefits paid for by the employer and in some case the employee. However, EUC slowly became a fully fledged entitlement program and was jammed down the throats of employer’s and taxpayers. I’m not saying many 99ers couldn’t use the additional help but let’s call “it” what it is; “entitlements”.
"There's no need for means testing. Unemployment benefits are not welfare."
Not sure why you would insist no means test is needed to qualify for UIC. Someone with $2 million in their bank account who just got laid off shouldn’t need $6,000.00 from the State to search for new work.
Then you fail to understand unemployment insurance. If you have a job, and you lose a job through no fault of your own, and you satisfy the criteria legally set by the state, then you get unemployment insurance. Otherwise, individuals define which other individuals they deem "worthy," a GOP philosophy akin to "I got mine, but you have to justify to me why you have to have yours."
Have a nice day.
I do have to agree with some of what msan222 is saying. I feel a means test should only apply to the tiers and to the EB program. Once you receive your reg benefits to get "EMERGENCY" benefits then a means test is used. The word "EMERGENCY" is the key. I have no income and could not make it without added weeks...that is a emergency. My wife earns 68K a year and we have a savings of 75K in the bank...I just like to hang out a little longer and use my checks as play money...Not a emergency or a real need. Seems this is a view that is trying to help those in "real" need.
The reason why I used that example was to demonstrate your circular logic regarding this particular issue. You know, the issue of liberals vilifying anyone who mentions “means testing”.
Apparently it’s OK with you if a Millionaire draws state benefits when they really do not need them BUT ALSO believe that raising taxes on the rich is the right thing to do to get us out of this crisis? Yep, I will admit that thinking is one sophisticated circle of logic.
Have a great weekend.
They need a means test. Someone with a household income of 50K should not be given money beyond the normal weeks. Not 99 that is for sure. With all the ext to UI the tax payers are supporting it with federal money. There was nothing to say that it was to be paid forever. It was set up for a helping hand up not a life long income. More people are hanging on as long as they can we know that. The states are now having problems as they try to pay back the Federal Govt. Running out of money...was only a time before this would take place. UI checks on very few job reports. People can and do avoid taking jobs or applying to just jobs they know they will not get. Not all...but more than some like to admit.
Online Blogger...Yes I agree with you. Why would they be not in support of a means test if it were to see that the most in real need get help? UI benefits pass the reg funds is not part of the rules. It is called a emergency for a reason. Yet, the end of theses ext are coming to just that a end. States are running out of money. Taxing the rich will do nothing to help. May even hurt the economy right now..even Bill Clinton said that.
Mom, I wish to thank you for posting all of those jobs each and every day for the last few weeks while there were no other postings. I know that you care deeply about providing job postings, rather than focusing on unemployment--or so you said repeatedly. Funny thing, though--my screen's comments section just appeared as a big white blank in all that time. Must've been just mine.
Focusing on unemployment...is that not about jobs? What is the point?
Sorry to hear your screen went blank. Hey, it happens to the best of us. Here’s a copy of my most recent job ad you missed this week just in case you’re still interested. I got excited when I heard Macy’s will be hiring 78,000 workers. I know many will only be temp or min wage jobs, but it sure beats sitting around waiting for HR589.

For anyone interested:
Macy’s will hire 78,000 new seasonal employees.
http://search.getthejob.com/macys?query=Macy's&location=&b=
So weren't there any jobs for you to post in the last several weeks?
You don't walk the walk like you talk the talk.
Wow! You keep late hours. Your post is really silly. Why do you care if someone post jobs on a site that is for unemployed people? How is that hurting anyone? If you could care less about jobs or Macy's hiring then you just move on. What if one person viewed the post and went down to Macy's and was hired? Would that not be a good thing? I am sorry I do not understand your point of view here at all.
I originally wrote a response. But then I thought, "Nah, he's in his 60s, and he claims he went to college." You should know how to analyze, instead of only being able to take words at face value. And if you don't, then do something about it.
As my 14 year old grand daughter would say.."Whatever". lol...I know nothing of other people's purposes on here, nor do you really. Not even sure what your purpose is. I do know our country needs a new direction and worrying who or why someone wants to post jobs seems like a waste of time; do you not think? Sounds like a personal problem to me.
LMAO...Ok I am in my 60's....Hate to give you some bad news here. You are no spring chicken!lol
@msannoyingmouth222
One reason why it might irritate you when I posts job ads “could be” because, it interferes with your hidden agenda. Perhaps you really don’t want people taking these jobs because most of these jobs are min wage or menial positions.
You are only focusing on UIC extensions until everyone’s dream job are restored foolishly believing its energy better spent. Never mind that the taxpayers have to foot the bill until then/if ever?
However, you feel free to continue and vilify anyone who disagrees with your point of view or has a different strategy for helping the 99ers. I cannot dispute that this is still one miserable recession. Nonetheless, I guarantee that more people have found jobs over the last two years than have found unemployment benefits past 99 weeks.
YOU ALSO NEED TO UNDERSTAND SOMETHING:
Many 99ers grew discouraged and weary over the years and possibly stop searching for jobs all together. Sometimes when a 99er is discouraged & frustrated, the classifieds job ads all look like one big blur and become difficult to peruse. We can only hope that those 99er’s who might occasionally tune-in to this website for a Tier 5 update, might see the convenient link to a decent job and become re-energized to continue their job search.
Just like hideinseek said, “what if one person viewed the post and went down to Macy's and was hired?’” Unfortunately we may never know because you & Christine have both chased away many 99ers either through “you” only advocating for free money or “her” both advocating for more free money & becoming a political warrior for Obama’s second term
I've just skipped over the comments, so you wasted all your hunting and pecking for nothing.
Mom, you and I both know that you only slither out from your rock when you can get attention, i.e., when your detractor shows up. Otherwise, no job postings, no nothing. The minute a detractor shows up, voila, you're just a caring person wanting to help job seekers by posting jobs. What you really are is an attention-seeking and malevolent phony of the worst kind.
masn222...you really need to grow up some. As for attention-seeking, you may wish to look in the mirror on that point! You should welcome all and any help for those unemployed. I am sure even you, unlike Christine, know that more weeks pass the 99 is a dead game at this point. I said there will be no tier 5 and that this last bill would never get to the floor. Seems I was right. I have been saying that a long time. While you and Christine put out false hope that was never to come. The reality we are living with is a lot of people will have to take lower paying jobs and part time jobs for a time. That is the cards we are dealt and you can only play the cards you have! I'd not even put too much hope in another ext of benefits at this point. Yet; the GOP is saying they may support that. Never count on the Govt for your survival. Count only on yourself.

MsA222; Put a sock in it!
Protesting anyone sharing job ads irrespective of their motives clearly demonstrates you have lost sight of the objective. Three years is a long time to chastise and hurt anyone in order to make yourself feel better about your own opinions.
In my humble opinion, there are two categories of 99ers.
There are the 99ers who were laid off through no fault of their own and spend most of their time and resources desperately trying to get their lives back adapting to the new economic market with or without the help from government. My heart and prayers truly go out to these folks.
Then, there are the 99er’s who also were laid off through no fault of their own and choose to remain pissed-off at the establishment refusing to take any employment beneath their education and skill level only seeking to make a political statement. For this group the rewards will be finite.

@ say no more, very well said!
I love the short & sweet way you were always able to put msanonymouth222 in her place.
I also agree with you and always felt one big reason the recession was taking so long to recover was that many of the unemployed refused to take menial or PT jobs. As soon as the illegal aliens took those jobs they start crying “where are the jobs”?
1. Not reading the drivel. LOL But it's nice to see Dean, and his posts. Unfortunately, all they'll yield is the same old, same old response from Mom and jt.
2. Say So Little couldn't put a gnat in its place. Once his compadre supposedly died, he lost any credibility he (thought he) ever had.
How would you know to disagree with my compliment to say no more if you were “NOT” READING THE DRIVEL Lol. You are one of the most well spoken “morons” I’ve ever read.
I think it is time for all liberals and hippie college protesters, who do not want to pay the banks back for their student loans, to go to Oprah Winfrey, Alec Balwin, Moore and Warren Buffett and demand that they contribute some of their evil, ill-gotten wealth to you. After all, they are like-minded people and also believe in Marxist redistribution of wealth of other peoples money. Come on, just go to them and they will share their wealth with you. You can take your like-minded friend Bill Ayers with you for support. I hear he has bombs! They hand you up wads of cash then you can get back to your face-book and video games.
Obama just admitted that we are not better off now as we were 4 years ago! Like we did not know that!He also said..."the faltering economy is a drag on his presidency and seriously hurting his chances of winning in 2012." Ummmmm I just wonder if the polls are as bad as they are now the end of Jan. he may pull a Johnson and say he will not run? You notice how Bill Clinton is out there..he even said he could not support Obama's plan on higher taxes. Here comes Hillary...she is the only one that may be able to save the Deomcrats...if they even can be saved!
Hideinseek, thanks for the update.

Majority Expects Obama to Lose Re-Election
A majority of Americans expect Barack Obama to be a one-term president, an assessment on which, in past elections, the public more often has been right than wrong.
Just 37 percent in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll say they expect Obama to win re-election in November 2012; 55 percent instead expect the eventual Republican nominee to win. ABC’s George Stephanopoulos is asking the president about that result in an interview today.
Conservatives are far more confident about the Republican nominee than are liberals about Obama, and moderates, albeit narrowly, are more likely to expect the challenger to win.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/majority-expects-obama-to-l...
When GS asked Obama what he thought of the new poll, he replied,
“He is used to being the underdog” (WHAAAAAAAAT)?
Shouldn’t we have a president who is used to being a “leader”?
Every time he speaks my confidence & the stock market goes down.
"Poor me"! From his own words if you do not work for the unions or construction you pretty much out of luck with him. His job bills a pay off to the unions. He needs to write a check out for 535 million for the tax payers money he lost in his green job scam. Then stop investing our money...he is not very good at it. If he worked on wall street they would fire him!
Worker Aid Agreement Passes Senate
WASHINGTON (Reuters) — The Senate handed President Obama a victory on Thursday by passing a program to help workers displaced by foreign competition, paving the way for action on three long-delayed trade deals.
Article Excerpts:
The retraining and income assistance program, which dates back to 1962, was expanded in the 2009 stimulus bill to cover more workers and provide more generous health insurance benefits.
The bill passed by the Senate renews many of the 2009 provisions through 2013, like covering service industry workers in addition to those in manufacturing.
But it reduces the number of weeks of income support to 117 from 156 in the 2009 law, with up to 13 additional weeks available only under certain circumstances.
It also scales back a tax credit to help unemployed workers pay for health insurance, and makes it harder for people to receive income assistance if they are not in a retraining program...

Obama Proposes Protecting Unemployed Against Hiring Bias
WASHINGTON — President Obama has not been particularly successful in fostering the creation of jobs. But he thinks he has found a way to pry open doors in the workplace for many of the unemployed, especially those who have been out of work for a long time.
Mr. Obama’s jobs bill would prohibit employers from discriminating against job applicants because they are unemployed.
Under the proposal, it would be “an unlawful employment practice” if a business with 15 or more employees refused to hire a person “because of the individual’s status as unemployed.”
Unsuccessful job applicants could sue and recover damages for violations, just as when an employer discriminates on the basis of a person’s race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
Republicans and some employers criticized the White House proposal. They said that discrimination was not common and that the proposed remedy could expose employers to a barrage of lawsuits.
Representative Louie Gohmert, Republican of Texas, said the president’s proposal would, in effect, establish the unemployed as a new “protected class.”
Mr. Gohmert said the proposal, if passed, would encourage litigation by sending a message to millions of Americans: “If you’re unemployed and you go to apply for a job, and you’re not hired for that job, see a lawyer. You may be able to file a claim because you got discriminated against because you were unemployed...

Hell; if I was an employer I'd avoid the unemployed like a fly on sh...! Why even open that door. Could cost more jobs than it well help. Dumb bill that once again shows Obama is anti-business...not helping in creating jobs. Then if you file a suit and even if you lose as a result any employer finds out; you think they will call you for an interview? Obmam wants the Govt. to control everything in our lives...what we eat..how we invest...who we can hire...tell business how to run their own business! Sounds a lot like a Marxist Govt to me. Maybe he is trying to kill capitalism? A lot of fare left liberal nut jobs want that. I hope America rejects that idea. Govt needs to get out of our lives and stop trying to micro-manage everything.
At tea party events they would have a permit, have a rally for a said period of time, clean up after supporting lower taxation and more responsible govt. spending. They then would be called every name in the book including racist and dangerous to society. This wall street mob has no permits, hangs out for days blocking good working Americans from getting to work, pisses in the streets and can not even tell you what they are protesting. That is liberals for you...always in turmoil!

Senate Blames China for US Unemployment
Obmam wants his jobs bill voted on. The GOP said they should do that. Was only fair to the President. Reid in the Senate had a fall down cry baby fit! Reid doesn't want the bill on the floor for a vote. Why? He knows the Democrats will not support it and then be hard to blame the GOP.
A quote from the wisdom of Abraham Lincoln -
“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
... You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.”
Since Nobama likes to quote Lincoln, haven't heard him use this one yet!
Pdwa,
After that great Lincoln quote & commentary, its remains difficult for me to understand how 37% of America still believes in Obama’s hope & change. What are they thinking?
pdwall...I put that on here once before. So true. Nice to see you are able to change some of your views. You are able to make decisions based on facts. thank you pdwall.
And be sure to watch New York's march at 3 pm ET today!
Can not support a mob of under 25 year olds with nothing to do but make trouble. Nut cases on the run at Wall Street. Funny thing is most of the businesses they think they are protesting are not even on Wall Street anymore! Most could not even say why they were prrotesting...clueless! One said to kill capitalism. When he was asked what to replace it with he looked lost...could not answer! Blocking streets while good hard working Americans try to get to work. Not taking a bath for weeks and piss on the streets. No permits to protest. Breaking laws. No respect for others. A mob of dope smoking idiots.

Proposed List Of Demands For Occupy Wall St Movement!
http://occupywallst.org/forum/proposed-list-of-demands-for-occupy-wall-s...
One or two of these demands make good sense but the bulk of them are laughable if you read the entire demand, (I only copied the abbreviated version). I also noticed absolutely NO MENTION for welfare entitlement reform. With all these demands there should never be any need for social services ever again, other than for the disabled, yet it’s OVERLOOKED! lol
Demand one: Restoration of the living wage.
Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system.
Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.
Demand four: Free college education.
Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.
Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.
Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.
Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.
Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.
Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.
Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all.
Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.
Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.
These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.
Clueless NUT CASES! So we just pay you a income guaranteed! Hell that is nice sign me up!lol....Open the borders to anyone that walks in! Love this one; outlaw credit reporting agencies and just forgive all debt.!! So pay off all my credit cards that I do not wish to pay back because i am irresponsible! The liberal fruitcakes are out in numbers!!! Sure the unions are feeding them. We now are a nation of people that are looking for handouts...not jobs. A mob of losers.
These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy. WRONG!
(IMO, all of these 99% played hooky from math).
Hideinseek,
Here are a few of my favorite comments from that occupy demands site.
I Demand the whole world be my personal slave – oh right, they’ve already got that in there.
Make the Middle East stop fighting.
Everyone gets a helicopter that runs on children's laughter.
Gummy bears are free.
Nobody judges anyone for having dumb ideas or lists of demands. (cough)
Online Blogger...Damn. When I sold my last home I paid off a lot of medical bills my late wife had and all my credit card debt. I now have zero debt. I do have three credit cards...only use them for air fare ext. And pay them off within the 30 days. One has a 20k limit. Maybe I should run out and get some new toys...run those cards up since the Govt will pass a law soon to forgive me.LMAO.....Love their new America...We do not have to be resposible...do not have to pay our bills..not our fault if we ran up debt. Maybe we get paid a income for just being DUMB! These fools have no clue how to run a bushiness and the word profit is unknown to them. They live in Oz...where money grows on trees and drugs are free!!!
The Frank/Dodd bill is the cause of bank fees going up. Maybe the liberals need to understand how business really works. You raise fees or taxes on the rich or business, then they pass those fees or cost on to us. Business is responsible to make a profit. Wow! You mean profit? That is a term the liberals do not understand. Obama and the liberal left is making it harder and harder for business to succeed. No wonder they are not hiring. The President is a job killer not a job creator. This class warfare of his is killing and dividing our country.
I must agree - total assinine idiots who were not taught a lick of sense how the world revolves NOT around them.....omg - this is our future? I am glad I will leave this world before this kind of humanity destroys each other, decency, morals and ethics. Not to mention all the illegals with the "open border" policy! Ughhhhhhh....I am glad I did not see this on the news - perhaps I shall tonight though. Dear God, what has this country come to?
you are so on point. All we can do is hope that we get some real change in 2012. We need a new direction in this country. We do not need class warfare. Pitting one group against the other group will not result in a positive outcome for any of us. I have hope that we will get a new direction in 2012. America will stand again and those values and morals you talk about will win out. I can only hope!
OK Hideinseek,
Sarah Palin just announced she will NOT run.
Romney/Cain in 2012
In the end Romney will most likely get it...he wins Obama in all the polls. Cain would be a good choice as a VP.
Palin is having too much fun and making too much money!!!LOL
"Protesters rush police barricades set up to protect Wall Street and people." "Protesters blocking traffic" A mob of nuts out of control. So msan222 you support this type on behavior? A mob of drug smoking, no respect for other people or their rights, fruitcakes.
I am heartsick that this country is run by idiots and most importantly everything our grandfathers built this nation on....now it is up in the air with illegals, give me a handout m' fers. I am appalled that NOTHING is mentioned about how anyone made this country what it is today....just more and more illegals coming in here with their hands out and 5-6 anchor babies on their hips and bellies. I work where the affluent come in for healthcare and I cannot tell you how many (non-citizens) come in from the RICHEST neighborhoods with MEDICAID. WTF!!!!!
Wake up.
I did wake up..... now what is this country going to do? The citizens of the U.S. need to take this country back already! What about you waking up MSANOS,,,per say, perhaps you know what ANOS in Hispanic means!
1. It's MsAnon, not MSANOS.
2. Hispanic is not a language; Spanish is a language.
3. It's per se, not per say (and not even used correctly here).
(mumbling) What a putz.
msanos/msanon
Never-ending overinflated sense of superiority.
MSAN222...Said before you need to grow up. From what I hear of you it seems you have not been all that successful to pass judgment on others. No savings, unable to hold your marriage together, unable to hold a job for very long, no money to go to your daughters wedding and few family members helping you out. Not trying to be mean...but then you should not pass judgment on others. If you are so good at correcting others on everything then why did you not become a teacher and work for a living? As said before you are better at free lancing. Not a people-person are you?
We all need to, (and have the right to) share opinions and express ideas about the sick feeling we get in the pit of our stomachs for what the future holds. We can all do without the nauseating feeling we get from msanonymous222’s never-ending overinflated sense of superiority.
And yet, you slither out from silence each and every time I post.
I guess you must love vomiting.
Prayers out to Steve Jobs: 1955-2011
Thank you for your contributions to mankind.
Yes, R.I.P. Mr Jobs...you were an icon and before your time if anyone.....tears and sad.
Does MsANOS ever stop correcting others when the bigger picture does not include her rhetoric of over criticizing and correcting? She/He blows my mind. omg...I was hoping this thread would not include that, but like everyone says,,,,,hope she has an on-line job of correcting everyone and their mother about SPANGLISH. My parents would roll over in their graves with her just bullshit! How's that MSANOS?????? Miss ANOS (in Spanish) should justify her b.s. ANOS = look it up in SPANISH~ = A-hole~!
Maybe your parents would be saying, "How could we have raised such a stupid kid with all of those years of elementary school?"
And to think that you idjits are worried about these (mostly but not all) young people as our future, even though Occupy Wall Street came together for 99% of Americans, regardless of political party. I'm MUCH more worried about people like you--the unwilling (and unable) to think on their own sheeple of America.
Baaaa.
"Occupy Wall Street came together for 99% of Americans." WRONG! 72% of Americans polled disagree with the protesters on Wall Street. From both parties. Supporting the breaking of laws and violet behavior of this type is irresponsible.
They exercised their Constitutional right. And didn't break laws. And weren't violent. The NYPD was violent to them.
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2011/10/06/2011-10-06_occupy_wall_st...
msan222...Since you are the only intellect one here maybe you can enlighten us all. What is it that these young nut cases are protesting? It seems most of them do not even know! Is it the daleth of capitalism? If so, then replace it with what? Is it the death and end of Wall Street? If so, are they willing to get rid of their smart phones, video games and other toys that Wall Street has given them? Would their goal be socialism or communist form of Govt? They seem to have no real goal or clear idea what they are even doing. Also do they want jobs or just a guaranteed income regardless of employment? Welfare for all as a right and entitlement to all? If jobs are what they seek then I'd tell them that blue and orange hair with body piercing and tattoos may be a problem. They may wish to clean themselves up, take a bath and go look for work. Anyone there on unemployment should be cut off funds...since they are not looking for work! So please give us a idea what is this protest about?
Please go to the site or go to a news site, or SOMETHING that indicates that you do not live in your clueless universe 24/7. This is a fairly decent and simple-to-understand explanation of the demands.
http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2011/10/06/2011-10-06_occupy_wall_st...
This is not solely a jobs march. It is not political, either. It's about the 99% (NOT THE 99ers) of America that are the have-nots, versus the 1% holding all the money and control. If you read one teeny, tiny, eensy bit about it or heard about it--even on Faux News--you'd KNOW that already. But you are just off in your own little universe all the time, totally fixated on unemployment while this whole biiiiiiiiiig thing is going on outside your door, in well over 100 cities, big and small.
And FYI, MANY of these people--in the hundreds and possibly a thousand or so--have not been going home. Their new home (in NY, anyway) IS Zuccotti Park, which is running out of space for them at night as their numbers increase. They don't have access to showers, etc. They're using baby wipes to wash, and they are now into the third week there. It's THAT important. They're taking a stand, and there are thousands everywhere who are joining them, which is why you are seeing mainstream media starting to listen up.
Try...just once...to actually learn something new in your day. If you don't agree with it, fine. But learn just once to actually expand your horizons one freakin' little bit past "they all want my money because they don't want to work"--which is about as far away from the truth as humanly possible.
I found it funny when one guy said "I'd protest the 1 % but I am to busy working!" I do understand what they are doing...Nothing of real value. Pissing in the streets and blocking the way for good Americans to work is not civil. If this was the tea party you would scream how bad they are. This is a mob of young kids for the most part at a street party. I bet you could get some good pot down there! When they are asked what they are protesting most do not even know. This is a joke and the result of this class warfare of Obama's. More important than working I guess. So 1% of the people of America are the problems of all our Ill's? You are clueless. This group of loser's are doing nothing to help America. I bet less than 0% of them pay any taxes. Nut cases! Just watched a few of them on TV...they are fruit cakes. Bill Ayers will join soon and bring a few bombs. Keep in mind; 2,000 people in New York is a small group. Next these nuts will be burning down buildings. Never said America has a shortage of Left Wing Nut Cases.

This may be the best advice you have ever received from friend or foe!
IF YOUR COMPULSIVE NEED TO CONTROL OTHERS BY "FIXING" THEM IS NOT RESOLVED, THEN YOU:
experience people moving away from you if they no longer desire "to be fixed'' by your advice, solutions or insights.
might have successfully used everyone else's problems to divert your attention from yourself, the only one you have greatest odds of fixing because you can have control and change yourself best.
will feign "wellness'' as a mask to convince others you have found the answers "to fix'' them and thus remain static or reverse in your personal emotional health

I am going to start my own small business for liberals...selling teeny tiny violins. Now only if the whiners had money to buy them..I'd be rich!
Just what the left wants, more people on entitlements, so when they spend everything we have and get in the same shape as Greece, people will riot. When people give up on depending on themselves and depend on the Govt and hungry, they will give up on any rights they have. Those people will grab at anything and follow anyone that tells them what they want to hear. A few years ago I would of said "No way in America." Today I am not so sure!
Most of the protestors are college students skipping school encouraged by their liberal college professors to stand up and be heard. Most want a peaceful demonstration yet some wish to antagonize the police for the extra drama and headlines. After all, that’s exactly why they‘re there.
I commend the protesters in N.Y., at least somebody in this country is showing passion for something! Finally, someone is publicly speaking their mind/s of what they believe; whatever the grievance. My son is approx. the age of alot of the wall st. protestors and I was once afraid that his was a lost generation of kids connected indefinitely to their iphones, ipads, androids, etc. I am so proud that they have realized their first amendment right and have come out of their silicon chip comas. From what I recall from college, all of my professors were liberal and they enabled us to think, not follow. There is hope for their generation after all.

Unemployed To Rally With Occupy Chicago Today
In response to the bleak September jobs report by the Labor Department, the area's unemployed will rally with Occupy Chicago protesters today. The unemployed and advocates with Chicago Jobs with Justice will start the rally at noon at the State of Illnois building and march to the Chicago Board of Trade, one of the Occupy Chicago sites. The activists say the low number of jobs created in September is indicative of the need for legislative action in the face of the ongoing economic crisis.
“These numbers are a stark and discouraging indicator of what we’ve known since 2009," said Susan Hurley, executive director of Chicago Jobs with Justice. "We can only create jobs with major federal investment. The private sector cannot create jobs in a weak economy with little demand. We are seeing the frustration in the streets all over the country including here in Chicago. The wealthiest individuals and corporations need to pay their fair share so we can create jobs.”
That will be Americas real focus in the 2012 election. One view is that the Govt has to create jobs by spending billions of dollars. The other view is that to create jobs the Govt has to get out of the way and let the private sector do what is does best. Invest and grow. So America will have a real choice in direction come 2012. I say the private sector can only create real jobs not the Govt. We have spent billions over the last three years and the Govt has not created jobs! Half a billion lost trying to with the green job scam. Also, if you spend ten billion to create 6 jobs is that good business? Stop the Obama over regulations and anti-business movements. Stop the class warfare of the poor against the rich. Give business a reason to invest in America. They do have to make a profit. A word most liberals do not understand. When I see signs by protesters saying.."Stop the Profits"...it tells me they are clueless as to how business works. Why run a business if you do not make a profit? Then they tell the banks.."Forgive my student loans Now"...So they took the money and now feel that should not have to pay it back to the banks? Did they not understand the word "LOAN"? Everyone looking for a hand out. Obama will feed on that for only one reason; for votes. He is creating the class warfare for that point. What I really LOL about is it was Obama that gave billions to Wall Street in the first place. Also check the facts..Wall Street gives more money to Democrats than Republicans!! LMAO
11 Reasons Why Occupy Wall Street Protesters Are Hypocrites If They Do Not Call For Barack Obama To Resign
If the Occupy Wall Street protesters truly believed in the things that they are proclaiming, then they would be calling for the immediate resignation of Barack Obama and his entire cabinet. The truth is that the Obama administration is responsible for most of the things that Occupy Wall Street is supposedly complaining about. If the Occupy Wall Street protesters were intellectually honest, we would see a flood of anti-Obama signs during these demonstrations. But instead we have barely heard a peep of criticism for Obama. In fact, the vast majority of the protesters seem very excited about sending Obama back to the White House in 2012. As will be clearly demonstrated in the rest of this article, this makes the Occupy Wall Street protesters tremendous hypocrites. If Occupy Wall Street wants to have any credibility whatsoever, it needs to call for Barack Obama to resign. Either Occupy Wall Street protesters will call for Barack Obama to be held accountable for his actions, or they are just a bunch of sheep. They cannot preach to us about how principled they are and yet turn a blind eye to everything that Barack Obama has been doing for the past 3 years.
http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/11-reasons-why-occupy-wall-str...
For the most part most of these protesters do not even have a clue to your point. Now you have protesters...protesting the war. People that are just caught up in the idea of protesting for the fun of protesting. There is no real direction to their cause. Look at the demands some of them are asking for...silly! Free educating! Forgive my debt that I had no problem creating. Just do not feel I should have to repay it. (SILLY) Income for all without having to work for it! (NUTS) They are all over the map. Per Capital income in Syria is about 5,000 a year, and unemployment throughout the middle east is 13% or more and has been for years. So I say shut up to those that call this a "Arab Spring" comparison. We enjoy more freedoms and economic opportunity in the US that 99% of the rest of the worlds population can only dream of. Being jealous of other people's money is not a cause, it is a moral failing.
Whether you are republican, democrat or something in between...the bottom line is what are people supposed to do if they cannot find a job?
What do they expect to happen to unemployed people at the end of the year when the unemployment extension deadline expires? Some have responded that the unemployed should start their own business, but the reality is not everyone is equipped to be an entrepreneur.
I have also noticed that the traffic on this site has gone down a lot, however I believe this will change if UI benefits are not extended.
Dean, I agree with you.
I understand your point. What are people to do. They have to use all the life skills they have and then some. They have 2 years of income to make plans. Do I move? Do I go live with family? Do I take a less paying job? Do I take part time jobs? Do I, if I can, take early retirement? During the two years do I keep my resume alive and do some volunteer work or take a part time job so I have no dead time on my resume? Some just lay down and hope that the Govt bails them out. For some we do have other social programs they turn to. Govt is not all things to all people. If I can not pay my rent, it is not OK for me to just come to your home and take what is yours!
What do they expect to happen to those people? The same things happening currently to their predecessors, who are not expected to receive any further benefits even if this bill passes--extreme poverty, hunger, homelessness and death.
I do feel the Govt well ext the unemployment come Jan. I also feel they should at this point. For those that did not get 99 weeks. We may also have to support state welfare programs more for a time. I do believe in giving a helping hand; just not a dependent hand. When some get a check for too long and they get too dependent on the Govt they get very use to that. They develop a dependent life style and a habit that is hard to break.
msan222...Poverty and homeless people were here long before this issue. Where were you then? You sound like a Drama Queen! Got news for you even when we recover and we well. Poverty and homeless people will be a part of our country and major cities for years to come. Sad but true.
President Obama was sworn into office in Feb. 2009. The unemployment crisis began to rise in 2007. I believe that Bush was president then. Hence, they both share responsibility for this crisis. The protesters want Main St. to be bailed out of this recession just as Wall St. was.
It was Obama that bailed out Wall Street. Also a note...that money and money to most of the banks was paid back. What are we now a country with the mind set of "bail me out?" Heads I win and tails you bail me out?? I can not make my 450. a month car payment and when I bought my car I put nothing down on it so I owe too much on it. It is worth less than I owe. I think the Govt should forgive my loan and pay it off. My house burned down and I was not responsible and bought no fire insurance...I think the Govt should take care of it. I lost my job and had two years to do something..anything but something. I did nothing. Just sat and let my checks stop and made no plans as to what I'd do. I think the Govt should pay me until I feel I can be OK without it or hell until unemployment drops to like 4%. Everyone should just be paid a income even if not working. Is this the New America?
America needs to stop bailing out period. What about the non-citizens flowing into here - pay no taxes on their Dunkin Donuts stores, cigarette shops, gas stations for 7 years, the next in their family takes over - no taxes for another 7 years and so on......BUT....they come into our office with Medicaid, and their kids.....live in one of the wealthiest suburbs on the wealthiest block? America needs to stop giving handouts to the illegals too! Stop this nonsense and take care of their own citizens...including the troops that are injured for life and doing without.
Just glad to see MsAnnoyMouth is on holiday! lol
I too agree that no one should expect the government to take care of them their whole lives. An example of this would be someone who is on unemployment or welfare during a time when the economy is good and there are plenty of jobs to be found. However, this logic becomes problematic when you take this type of assistance away when the economy is "bad" and the national unemployment rate is at 16%.
In all of this, I truly feel sorry for people who have worked all their lives and now have nearly nothing to show for it. I also feel sorry for the children of people who have been on welfare all their lives because they have been taught a first hand lesson on how "not" to work and be a productive citizen.
Totally agree.........was just chatting yesterday and said how my dad used to support my mom and 4 children back in the day - nice house 2 cars, etc. On a truck driver's salary! Something has gone so very wrong with this country that I can barely support myself in an apartment, old car, etc. I am NOT complaining; however, something is terribly wrong where those of us have worked our whole life, and everything torn out from under us with this recession and taking forever to land a job (no matter what the pay scale of the job is).
I've always worked for those in need. We've discussed this before. I'm sorry your memory continues to be selectively poor.
""
As for the rest, you are clearly someone who will fail to understand your fellow Americans' plight until you have lost everything you have ever had and are wanting a meal and a place to sleep. God is watching. Don't ever think that you can't wind up with NOTHING.
I live in a big city. I see no one going without food. We have a lot of homeless. 65% are under 25 and a lot are even younger. A large number are where they are because of drugs and they just do not want responsibility. As for meals...why anyone in this city would go not eating is beyond me. We have a lot of food kitchens and a lot of Church's that feed those in need. If you have no income and have an address...even a post office box..which you can get for free...then auto 200. monthly in food stamps. Your problem may be a roof over your head. Yet; not food. I see no one dying from no food on the streets or dying at all. Drugs are the real problem among most homeless. Things are not good. Yet; not as bad as you try to spend it.
Here we go - the mouth from the south is spouting off at who knows who this time? She just loves to criticize and throw insults - I just don't know why you are so angry ALL the time, not just some of the time.
I have wound up with nearly NOTHING and continue to feel sorry for the needy and destitute of our country. But don't need to shout out alms at every discussion. Just getting up on the wrong side of the bed, are you?
I wasn't speaking to you. Anyway....
Maybe you are creating some unnecessary confusion by not replying to or referring to “whoever” you are speaking to.
Address your formatting concerns to PI.
While there, let them know you were banned and still posting. Thanks.
Today’s a beautiful day in Chicago; I’m off to enjoy it. Try it! ALL of your enemies should still be here when you get back. Have a great afternoon.
I agree that more bailouts are only short term gimmicks. IMO, the latest short term gimmick was Obama extending the bush tax cuts for “only” two years until 2012. That alone could have prolonged this recession another two years as corporations put all their business plans on hold.
Dean...You sound like a very caring person. I know you really do care. I understand that there are people hurting. Many good people falling on bad luck. I am also sure that we all can have a story of when we ourselves had bad luck and bad times. For most they find a way and with help from family and friends and a real strong belief in self they make it. Sad as it is there are also those that for whatever reason just do not have strong survival skills. There is no easy answer. We all feel sorry for poor children, animals that are hurt or those people that are sick. America has a lot of social programs that can address a lot of these issues. As bad as some think the poor in our country are living; they are living better than most in other countries. I know a lady with two kids living on welfare. She is fare from rich. Yet, she has a roof over her head, food on the table, a older car, a cell phone and cable TV! All paid for by us tax payers. Helping others is super. Yet; when people start feeling they are entitled to this or that, then that is a problem. Some on the fare left like Christine and msan222 seem to think that the Govt and tax payers owe this or that. Everything I have I worked for and saved all my life. I got help and when I did I took the time to say thank you. Yet; I knew I was responsible for myself and had to make good decisions and learn from bad ones. I hear so many that took two years of checks from the Govt and not one time said thank you! Just complain and whining for more. In no rules or laws was unemployment set up to run for two years, let alone 3 or 5! It was not a life long income. So some need to stop and say thank you Govt for that help. The Govt is not our landlord, banker or doctor. Personal responsibility plays a part also.
MsAnnoyMouth DOES NOT work for the government as stated some time ago - otherwise she would have more class, intelligence and offerings of perhaps how the government SHOULD be working to clean up this mess. And enlightening others on here about solutions, not insulting others. I do not believe she even works, hence, her angerment which needs mucho management.
Jt gave you a solution. People just need to try harder--or some such inanity.
Unemployed seek protection against job bias
http://news.yahoo.com/unemployed-seek-protection-against-job-bias-084916...
The problem I have with employers using the excuse that the long, long term unemployed workers skills become faulty after a time of being out of work is how can two or even three years of unemployment negate 10, 15, or even 20 years of work history within a field of work? Second, how is it that someone being unemployed, due to no fault of their own, with years of work experience (now employers do not want to interview or hire them) any different from a college graduate with no work experience and far less skills? Yet still, a company will take them right out of college put them in an 18 month plus training program with pay, train them about the industry and afterwards place them into management positions? Even if the long term unemployed skills are a little faulty and they may need some retraining, they are still far more experienced and knowledgeable about a field of work than someone fresh out of college with no knowledge or work experience. Here you have a skilled worker who has been out of work for a couple of years due to no fault of their own, an employer is afraid that their skills have dropped off and does not want to interview/hire them compared to a college graduate who has no experience in the same field, yet the employer is willing to take the college graduate, pay them, and train them on the industry?
The other excuse employers may use is older workers have more health issues than younger workers. This may be the case; however, there are just as many younger workers today with health issues as there are older workers. Even though older workers may have health issues due to getting older, many younger people today struggle with obesity- which in itself is a health problem, etc. How many young people have been reported, within the last two years alone, having died of a sudden death due to heart problems? Most of these young people are either high school age or are in college. The moral of this point is whether young or old, there are risks on both sides, yet the older generation is forced to take the brunt of the heat- because of age. It is not fair to a generation of people who have worked hard, done all of the right things to have a decent life, just to end up being snubbed by the very companies they supported as consumers during better times. Where is the loyalty? And why isn’t media asking these same questions as opposed to just reporting how corporations are reluctant to hire the long, long term unemployed? It’s all nonsense.
So hypothetically speaking, I have many years of experience working in the insurance industry: claims, life, property, auto, processing, etc. I have not worked within the industry for quite some time, however, I still know a great deal about it. For example, I can explain how a Universal Life policy works just as well as an agent - especially when it comes to the tax laws accompanied with it- tefra/defra laws, how barrowing from the policy and paying it back or not paying it back properly can effect the policy, how using the policy as a savings plan and dumping too much money into it upfront effects the policy, how taking out partials will effect the policy and so forth. Yet a company will take a college graduate and hire them with no experience in the industry over a person who knows the industry, but has been unemployed for two or three years. Here you have no experience and experience; but the no experience gets chosen for the interview? Not even speaking of being hired, because at this point, many of the long, long term unemployed workers are not even getting in the doors for an interview. The best resolve with this, is to give the interview, give the assessment test, and see what happens; but, this can’t happen if the long, long term workers are not even being considered for an interview?
Thirdly, I think the discrimination act that Obama wishes to use to help the unemployed is a good faith effort; however, in the end, the corporations will only find another excuse not to hire the long term unemployed. In my opinion, I think this law will only make the corporations angry and it will back-fire on the unemployed and make things worst as a result. Forcing corporations or strong-arming them to hire the unemployed is not the answer to this debacle. This law will only pit the corporations against the unemployed while taking the focus off of real resolve. This is not what this country needs right now. There needs to be real solutions on getting America back to work. Pointing fingers and law suits, right now, is not the answer. Again, corporations will find a way to get around this act and the unemployed still loses in the end; along with the progress of pulling out of this very bad situation.
Discrimination of any sort is very difficult to legally prove. I don't have much faith in anything that might pass.
I agree with your post. I agree also that pitting a business against the unemployed will not help. We need less class warfare and less anti-business attitudes. For those out of work a long time it is VERY IMPORTANT that they keep their resume up to date. Try to avoid long periods of nothing! That is why that part time or even volunteer work is so important. It shows you are doing something not just cable TV!
Very informative YMB........you should speak at the next congressional meeting!!! I agree....the 20 somethings are also suffering (where I work) from carpal tunnel syndrome from being on the computer most of their lives whether it be for gaming or texting on their phones, etc. This is a workers comp problem that just exploded with the younger generation! Long-term, seasoned and experienced employees need to be re-hired back into the workforce just for their skills and experience dealing with the public and C-level executives alone! Never mind their age, they would bring a wealth of significant contributions to the organization they are applying at!
And say thank you to someone. There ya go. Next he will bring about world peace.
I think pdwall has your number. I think she is right. Do you ever say thank you for anything! You got two years of checks...why is a thank you to the Govt and the working tax payers that paid the bill so hard for you? Be more thankful for what you have and less complaining about everything you do not have!
People are competing heavily for part-time jobs, temp jobs, project work and even day labor, and there has been a MASSIVE increase in only one month of those who are working part time and desperately need full time. Where do you think all these jobs of any kind ARE for so many millions? And volunteer work does not pay one bill. WAKE UP!
I was talking of volunteer work while on UI. I was talking to those getting UI benefits. My point was not directed at those out of work over two years.....You remark you always work to help those in need! Sorry I do not see you working with people at all. You do not have the personality for it. I'd say best to work alone; not a team player.
Hideinseek,
You made a good point earlier that everyone should keep their resumes alive! We all know volunteer works doesn’t pay the bills but it sure keeps you more marketable while helping people at the same time.
Most people wake up and search for coffee & sunshine.☺
Msanon222 wakes up searching for arguments & battle :-(
Seems you got my point!lol...She makes a statement that I said people need to try harder! I never said that, yet; that is a good point! Those over 55 or 50 even will have the hardest time. I do feel for them. Wish there was a way that older people like over 55 could just access their SS early if they have enough paid in. You know the truth is we can not depend on the Govt to solve all our problems. They seem unable to solve their own. Things may get worst before better I am afraid. Sad as it is we or the Govt can not help everyone. Reality is not a nice face always! So yes, to survive one will have to try very hard and not hold out until checks stop. Act, do not react.

What a joke! They can not even speak English! You think they may be illegal? Obama's class warfare at work!
Sorry yet most of these protester are not the caliber of people I'd consider hiring
I woke up happy and went to work--where employer, employees and clients love me.
Maybe I just don't like idjits. LOLOL
Jt, you can't speak English well. What's your excuse?
LMAO...I will match my investments, savings and job history with yours any day of the week.
Romney.."All streets are connected. Wall Street is connected to Main Street. Protesters looking for a scapegoat."...."Don"t attack a whole class of Americans, whether they are rich or poor, black or white, this is not the time for class warfare and divisveness."..."Why in the world should American tax payers have to pay a tuition credit for people here illegally?"......Romney is right.....ROMNEY/CAIN IN 2012!
JT .... it is scapegoat; whether; divisiveness; illegally......NOT trying to be MsAnnoyMouth by any stretch of the imagination to correct misspelled words and punctuation and grammar; but what happened between 2:08pm and 3:50pm that the spelling has gone downhill so much? Just wondering is all!
@MsAnnoyMouth - ANYone who has to boast that employees, clients and employer adores and loves them - most likely is telling a tall tale. It is like a man boasting he is a great lover - and actually stinks in the sack......you fit the bill to a tee! You don't even work at the government like you said - you are a blatant liar.
Sorry pdwall...my vision is not what it use to be. I need to check the post better than I do at times. Thank you for pointing it out and at the same time being civil.
Don't know where you EVER got the idea I worked for the government (perhaps because you do not retain or analyze information well). I did say that I was used as a resource on unemployment issues for a senator's office, and that's the truth. I did say that I worked with the DOL and a state senator's office to change IDES accuracy and accountability, and that's the truth. I did say that a particular letter that I wrote was used for a campaign to extend unemployment benefits, and that's the truth. I did say that another letter was entered into the Congressional Record for the Hearings on Long-Term Unemployment, and that's the truth.
I don't lie. I have no reason to, when the truth will always speak for itself.
………lol! Some people love me at work and some people do not.
Some of my family members love me and some do not!
Some of my neighbors love me and some do not!
Only narcissistic people believe they are loved by everyone.
Except that I didn't say that. Be sure to tell the doc about the voices in your head. He can add more meds to your collection.
I know, I know! You also said you don’t read my comments, but here you are. LOL.
I’m glad people are finally taking to the streets to speak out. I only wish they were more conservative voices with more realistic demands and expectations which made this country great.
This is just a theory.
These occupy Wall Street protest are gaining momentum and have the very real potential for becoming violent.
Pitting one against another/ class warfare, it all adds up.
“Obama Is Behind the Occupy Wall Street ‘Riots’
“This thing just didn’t bubble up out of nothing. We now find out George Soros money is behind this, and there’s no doubt in my mind that the White House is behind this. I wish I could tell you who, but a very prominent person asked me to never mention his name in this regard, but for months he has been telling me, “You watch, Rush, do not doubt me,” he said to me, “Obama is setting up riots. He is fanning the flames for riots and eventual violence. That‘s all he’s got.” And now you look, all of this talk about millionaires and billionaires and people not paying their fair share and this relentless assault on achievement in this country has resulted in what? The appearance of a spontaneous combustion of angry white college students who are fed up with all the injustices that this country is famous for. That’s his base.”
FROM THE EIB NETWORK
They called the tea party nuts! The tea party had a set goal and was non-violent. They never blocked the way of other people. These fools are doing just that without permits and pissing in the streets. This is not a protest...it is a mob of nuts. I think your friend is right on about Obama. Class warfare is all he has to run on.
Think about it! Why are permits being waived?
Just got a look at the people on Wall Street. Good God! They are leaving trash in the streets. Using drugs right in the open and having sex. One kid went to the bathroom (#2) on a police car. They are going to the bathroom in the streets. Most looked like they have not had no bath in weeks. Who in the hell would hire most of these losers? Most had no clue what they were protesting. One kid said we need to make all drugs legal!! Looked like he had no shortage of them. The sad thing here is that our President is supporting this type of behavior! Nancy P. is supporting it! If this is the future of America God help us all.
What do you mean #2 on a police car???? That is totally insane and ridiculous.....were there no porta-potties in sight? This is not protesting....this would be an upheaval or coup in the worst way. I cannot believe that physical force and violence even broke out for something that was supposed to be a movement to open the eyes of America. I am appalled and yes, sickened that this would be supported and/or condoned. This would be a sad America for sure if these types of people are allowed to protest and cause havoc at the same time. Are you SURE they are going to the bathroom in the streets?
People who are unemployed through no fault of their own and need jobs are not losers, but we cannot support this behavior in any shape or form. Desperate people do desperate things, but this seems like a mini Woodstock revival if what you are saying is true!
Pdwall...I agree with you. I did not mean to say that all unemployed people are losers. Yet, a lot of these protesters are. Could not believe my eyes. Not sure most of these people are the unemployed or just nuts out to party. If there are unemployed people there they should be cut off. Should be looking for work. Sorry but looks like someone opened the door to a nut house and let them all out. If this is the liberals idea of a tea party they can have it. I do not support all of the tea party. However; this behavior makes me think of joining the tea party!
Liberals going after Cain. Why? He is a black man and has made it on hard work. He said "he is tried of people blaming others for their own problems and feeling they are entitled." He supports hard work and successful people. We see how the liberals are...they only support those that think like them. Now who is racist?
Cain blames the unemployed for being unemployed. Somewhere, a village is searching for its idiot.
He has never said that. He did say that if you are not rich do not blame others....blame yourself.
When you apply for permits for crowds of this size it is a requirement that porta-potties be provided.
NO PERMITS, NO PORTA-POTTIES!
Stinking up Wall Street: Protesters accused of living in filth as shocking pictures show one demonstrator defecating on a POLICE CAR

Its' the beginning of class warfare. It dosen't matter if it makes sense to anyone or not; these protesters feel disenfranchised and without hope. Just like the civil rights movement of the 50's and 60's. There has to be alot of hopelessness out there for people to act this way. When people feel that there is no hope their middle class values are left behind, go down the tubes. There is no guarantee that what is happening on the streets of Greece and last summer on the streets of London could not or would not happen in the United States. The gap between the haves and haves nots is widening in our country and the Wall St. protests and sympathy protests across the country is the fallout.
These people are not the middle class. Not most of them. This behavior and Obama approving of it will backfire on him. 75% of working, middle class, normal Americans will not support this. A lot of them had orange and yellow hair with body piercing...that is not middle class. Just dope smoking, nothing else to do losers.
I understand the need to protest, really I do. This country is so up-side-down right now that something got to give. What I don’t understand is, “NONE” of the protestors demands are job creators. (I thought we needed jobs). No mentions for; buy American”, stop outsourcing, employer hiring incentives etc.
This is just the “ME” generation only asking for “free stuff”!
Free college education
Free debt forgiveness
EDIT:
I think forgiving any interest or penalties on student loans might be fair. Asking to completely walk away from the loan is “greedy”.
Isn’t greed exactly what they're fighting against?
Jt, the unedited and accurate Herman Cain quote is:
"Don't blame Wall Street. Don't blame the big banks. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A JOB and you're. not RICH, blame yourself."
Another Republican with money in his pocket and a willfully closed mind.
The money in my pocket is my money! You and other fare left liberals are always trying to get your hand into other peoples pockets! Just love spending other peoples money. All the problems in this country are not just with Wall Street and the Banks. Now we blame them and not Bush? Same old blame game. That is all Obama can do with no record to run on. If the mobs get out of control it will be Obama and the liberals to blame. The unions are adding gas to a fire. Maybe the points made by Online blogger has some truth to it. Maybe Obama, with his class warfare, is trying to divide this country apart! Take the heat off himself. Maybe the out of control nut jobs are his base!!
Looks like the "jobs bill" is getting some movement. Hopefully this is a positive sign.
I also heard on the news earlier that the mayor of Atlanta is trying to remove the "Occupy Atlanta" protesters from a downtown park.
They are having a test vote today on Obama’s jobs bill.
According to Il. Rep Durbin, the Democrats only have 41 votes, they need 60. Also, Il. Rep Kirk said the bill has a much better chance of passing if broken into pieces and Durbin agreed. It could take the rest of the year to pass some form of this bill.
That's good to hear. That bill contains so much information and details that it definitely needs to be broken down so critical pieces of legislation can get passed before the end of the year.
American Wealth! Why do liberals call income and wealth a "National" Wealth? My older brother worked all his life, started at the bottom, working as a kid at a airport. He always had a dream to fly. He saved his money and went to pilots school and did it. He then worked as a crop-duster for the same airport for years. Saved his money and in time he bought the airport and became the owner. After 42 years of hard work, good investments and savings, he is worth over 4 million dollars. He raised 2 children and took care of his family. There were others that worked the same hours as he did and did not invest or save. They retired broke. I say the wealth of my brother is "His" wealth and not part of a "National" Wealth! I could care a rats behind about the personal wealth of anyone. It belongs to them, they earned it or were born into it. So What? It surly isn't mind. I am part of the 40%. Not rich and not poor. I worked for what I do have and do not feel my neighbor is responsible for me or my basic needs. It is time that we become accountable for our own decisions in life. Stop blaming others and go back to what made America strong..."Personal Responsibility"!
What made "America strong" is that people were ready to fight and kill other people for their ideals.
On what right would you tell people how to act?
"Might is right?"
If you tell somebody "act my way - or else", how about he picks up a weapon tell YOU "act my way - or else".?
By what principle(s) should everything be governed?
YOUR principles?
Why should anybody care of what your opinion is?
The USA had 'grown up' on an aggressive version of European Protestant mindset. (by 'Protestant' meaning "non-Roman-Catholic-Christianity")
The truth is that this mindset has run its course and is now a done deal.
Even "secular humanism" (one of the weakest of all mindsets) outdo this now.
I guess I have to finish this thought now.
"Civilization runs on the mindset of the population which mindset comes from religious beliefs."
Truth is one thing - pragmatism is another.
"The final proof of God's omnipotence is that He does not even have to exist to save us."
(I use this quotation as a 'meant to be humorous' conclusion for the present purposes.)
Finally! The Made in America Challenge.
I love this. Builders are joining together to start buying on average 5% more American made building materials which could bring 220,000 new jobs.
A home builder in Montana is sharing his “completely” made in America material list.
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/video/home-completely-made-america-14708405
Another Obama spending bill bites the dust! The democrats did not vote simply to avoid voting against their once revered leader. The democrats control the Senate. Anything that is not passed means they did not vote for it. Yet; they will try to blame the GOP! Was a bad bill.
I'm not going to generalize and state that the Wall St. protesters are dope smoking losers; some might be, some might not be. The more important issue is that these people are scared. They are scared of no future. The wealthy and the middle class are being pulled apart in our country more each day. With the unemployment rate of 9.1%, alot of these young people (especially ones from less afluent backgrounds) are scared that they won't have a future. With U.S. corporations sitting on millions and hiring very little, moving more and more jobs overseas that only a generation ago people could rely on to begin their lives with after high school and college, I can understand the fear and frustration that alot of people in our country, including the protesters are feeling. People on Wall St. (and the Chicago Stock Exchange) offices putting signs in the windows noting that they are the 1% is just adding fuel to the fire and they know it. Its' financial bullying and these gestures will not help the economic problems in our country. When I watch t.v., I feel as if I am watching the early rumblings of the Russian revolution circa 1917. Don't we ever learn from our mistakes?
Oh Please! Real college kids are in school. Get a look at these fools. From my view I'd not hire 60% of them to work in my yard. The numbers are not as big as some in the media would like us to think. They had a protest here. About 250 people...in a city with 2+million! They were more peaceful than New York. Yet, they did block traffic on one of the bridges while hard working Americans were just trying to get home for dinner. If this group makes up middle class America we are in real trouble. There are millions of other young kids out their in class at colleges across America. They get my respect. Not a group of dope smoking fools pissing in the streets and shi... on a police car. Some of you talk like America is over. Get real there are millions out there playing by the rules and making things work for them. Getting tired of the whining, poor me and entitlement mind set of some.
Thats' a real shame you feel that way. However, I know alot about college kids and I know that not all of them think or follow the same course through their college careers. You can protest and still play by the rules. Sure, some of the protesters have gone over the top and have made bad decisions. But you get real; there are alot that smoke dope, take part in campus protests, graduate from college, go on to post graduate school and have successful careers. This is a protest against corporate America taking advantage of and destroying what used to be a middle class America.
Yes the ones that do work on Wall Street and Corporate America Now!!! Most of the protesters on Wall Street are not those. A lot could be the ones that take student loans then drop out and now want the Banks to forgive the loans. After using a lot of the student loan money for personal items. When you ask one of them that wants to end capitalism what he would replace it with and he looks lost...I'd say he needs to get back to school. Open a few books and then protest when he knows what he is protesting!
Solar energy panels another short term gimmick/scam.
Solar Panels Don't Work. And No One Knows.
Solar panels do not work that well. Often far below expectations.
And few know it. Not the owners who depend on power. Not the bankers who finance it. Not the brokers who insure it.
If you listen to the mostly-Chinese manufacturers, solar panels work great. They can be expected to degrade about 0.5% a year. So that is how we build the economic models to finance, insure and subsidize the larger solar systems.
In the real world, we are just starting to find out how bogus many of those predictions are. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory says that panels can degrade as much as 4.5% a year. Or more. Put that in your pro forma and see what your banker and insurance agent -- or Congressman -- say about that.
http://energy.aol.com/2011/10/07/solar-panels-dont-work-and-no-one-knows...
I hope congress studies this before passing Obama’s jobs bill with big bucks planned for solar energy retrofits & upgrades.
After the democrats blame the republicans and the republicans blame the democrats, this fact speaks for itself;
"The president’s first stimulus was a legislative and economic catastrophe. Eight-hundred-twenty-five billion dollars later, there are 1.7 million fewer jobs in this country than there were when the first stimulus was signed.”
Online Blogger..What is wrong with this country? It seems we are at war with each other. A business, a school, a corporation or even a family is only as good as its leader! The same can be said of a country. A real leader brings people together to work as a team. He/She leads and unites people. They do not divide people and create fighting among the group. They do not blame one part of the team and set them up against the other part of the team. This class warfare is not helping this country. It is only dividing the country. So we should look to the leader..Obama. He seems to believe, for whatever reason, that his goal will be to divide people and blame people. He goes down in history as the Great Divider! Do people even ask themselves what we would do without corporations and Wall Street? We can call corporations names, set up road blocks for them and increase their taxes. When they react by picking up and moving overseas then we complain! Are we willing to give up what Wall Street has given us all? Cell phones, the INTERNET, cable TV and even face book!!? NO Would we be OK if corporations moved overseas? NO Could we survive without the stock market? NO. What is the point of all this blame game?
Newkidontheblock...and others who support the Wall Street protesters. You should ask yourself this question. Do the protesters help or hurt the goal? Do not underestimate the American people. This group, even if well meaning, do not mirror the American middle class. When normal, hard working and middle class Americans turn their TV on and see protesters pissing in the streets and showing no respect for law and order they will turn off in the millions. As a result, they will then start to turn off to all of your points. They will stop supporting entitlements and you may even lose support for unemployment benefits. They well become sick of all of this behavior and move even more right! Democrats that line themselves with this group best be very careful.
Or, they will see the this ‘group of people’ for who they are and not place everyone in the same basket. What these protestors are doing should not have a negative impact on others. They are not representing the whole. They stand for what they stand for. If there is some benefit in the end, then so be it. I would not look at them, get turned off and stop supporting programs that help the poor or unemployment. I look at these people for who they are, and what they are doing and that’s it. Again, JMO.
YMB...You never said that about the tea party! If the President and other democrats put their stamp of approval on it then yes we can. What programs for the poor? We have always had programs for the poor. Obama did not create programs to help the poor. He is just increasing the numbers of poor!
@hideinseek If you agree with the first amendment to the U.S. Constitution, you would have to agree with the protesters right to protest. I may not agree with HOW some of them are protesting, but if you take away their right, you have taken away part of our governing laws. From what I have seen from some of your previous posts, you don't seem to be a fan of socialism. Denying these people their right to complain publicly of what they feel is going on in corporate America and how the middle class is being eliminated in our country is in fact a tiny step toward socialism. Hardworking Americans who are not taking part in these protests want answers to why they are working harder and harder and have less to show for it. They also want to know why certain CEOs get appointed, screw up and get paid millions in severance for doing absolutely nothing. The wealthy in this country initiated this class warfare, not President Obama. It seems that the wealthy want to make as much as they can stepping on middle and lower class America if they get in the way of their profits. Watching what the t.v. and cable news networks decide to show through the media will not stop me from supporting entitlement programs for the poor; I will make up my own mind. You can't treat people badly and expect them to thank you for it.
Investigating the unemployed.
Haha.
They should investigate the employed.
And the companies who hire them.
And the principles - theoretical/practical - by which the 'employed' are hired.
At my work a sufficient number of employees are in fact unemployable.
Meaning: they have neither the disposition nor the intelligence to perform a useful task.
Perhaps it is a different issue in Wisconsin.
I wonder if they may say the same-thing about you behind your back? lol
Is that you msan222!!!LOL
"Capitalism" and "democracy" are both methods which's usefulness depends on the somewhat sane mental status of the population.
The fulfillment of this criteria has been declining in an alarming fashion for the last hundred years.
The mind of 'modern man' has gradually been turning into irrational chaos.
By this - for the present purpose - I refer to the aspect of the mind that decides "what shall be believed".
For - make no mistake - what we believe is what we will act upon.
America under capitalism for 100 years became the most successful and powerful country in the world. Our people, even the poor, still live better than most other people in the world with freedom that a lot of others today only wish for. Our welfare poor seem to have cable, the inter-net and cell phones. This country is still the best country in the world. Not sure of your history. I have traveled to other parts of the world and I thank God I am an American.
"There are two kinds of historians - one who tells half of the truth and the other who tells none of the truth."
(G.K.Chesterton)
Thanking God is good thing.
Most of us have the same problem in our search for truth.
(...besides being totally wrong in many cases...)
We go to an extent on a correct mental path then we stop when we satisfy our own judgement.
If we are experiencing class warfare, Obama did not start it. If this is class warfare, it began long before Obama took office- IMO, way back in 2004. If you haven’t already, you should watch the documentary called ‘Maxed Out’. Its main focus is the consequences of credit card use and its contribution to what’s happening to middle class America. It talks about how big banks and wall street actually target or prefer the lower income market for credit cards; because of their inability to pay back or pay back on time. They (banks) rack up millions on late fees and over-the-limit fees. It also goes into the division or the beginning of the divide of America between the haves and the have nots, the making of two classes the very rich and the poor and how the middle class is becoming emerged with the poor to become an even bigger class of people. Zooming forward to today, we are now living the manifestations of what really began years ago. The reason why it appears that Obama is the cause of it because 1) He is the current President and responsible for what happens in this country. 2) Because, like Kennedy, he is trying to do things to help the poor and the struggling middle class; while many do not agree and because he wants the wealthiest of Americans to pay their fair share in taxes. Extremely interesting documentary. Please watch. Also, this documentary has a copyright date of 2006.
While I have not agreed with all of Obamas’ plans, I do not agree with the notion that he is the cause of class warfare. If you truly observe the Republican Congress, every time Obama introduces a plan to help the economy, the first impression I get from them is it is us against Obama and a whole lot of ‘nos’. (It’s like we have a civil war going on between the Republican Congress and the White House.) What has Congress come up with since taking over that will help the economy (correction: everyone)? I don’t believe they care. How often have they been assertive in coming up with a real plan for creating jobs? As a matter of fact how often do they even speak about the unemployed and the struggling in this country- except to deny employment extensions and to cut benefits?
Then there is McCain with his ‘999’ plan which his own party do not agree with. The 999 plan is simply the opposite of the current tax code flipped over. Currently we are being taxed based upon our income or income brackets; where it is the opposite with the 999 plan- it doesn’t matter what your income is, there is no bracket, only a flat rate. I stand in agreement with Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann when she said, “You turn the 9-9-9 plan upside down, and the devil's in the details,” referring to the number "666"--the mark of the beast described in Revelation.” (lol) Even though it is a flat plan across the board for everyone, it is still not effective. For someone making over a million dollars a year plus, 9% interest is nothing for them to pay; they will actually pay less than the current required amount. For someone making 20,000 a year or less, for them 9% percent interest is a large amount taken from a weekly or bi-weekly pay check- 9% is even a large amount for someone making 50,000 or 60,000 a year. This plan still hurts the poor and the middle class and in the long run helps the rich. These are JMTAO/understanding of the 999 plan.
I agree with your point on the 999 plan. A sales tax is the last thing we need. That is about the only point I do agree with you on. Yes, it is and was Obama that created this class warfare. He is always blaming others and pitting one group against the other group. When in reality it was he who bailed out Wall Street and took millions from Wall Street for his election. The old idea that the GOP is blocking the poor guy...well, that dog doesn't hunt. The first 2+ years Obama had control of the House, the Senate and the White House. He got almost everything he asked for. The Health Care bill...that most did not want. His trillion of dollars in stimulus money that was to crate jobs! What jobs? His Green Jobs bills that lost the tax payers 535 million that we know about! A media that gave him a free ride. Helping the poor is not turning them into entitlement queens! Kennedy did not do that...His words.."Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." YMB..I would of voted for Kennedy and Obmam is no Kennedy! I do not need a left wing documentary to show me the way. I could get the same propaganda from Michel Moore!!! The middle class is fare from dead. Maybe in your little corner of the world. Not in my corner. You just do not hear as much from them. Why? They are the millions working, raising families and taking responsibility for their own lives without asking for big Govt and endless entitlements. You will hear from them in 2012 when they send Obama a final message. We are not interested in Socialism or a Nanny State..Thank you!
hideinseek
I guess we have to agree to disagree. My world is not small. Unlike you, I'm just more open to seeing other points of views as to honing in on black or white and a narrow minded way of seeing things. Obama did not start this class warfare. You choose to believe what you want, in your itsy bitsy world. Just sharing not forcing you to believe anything. ...Maybe have more of an open mind as opposed to mud slinging and hat n’ all day. It's got to become tiresome at some point. ...Unless it does the opposite and spark energy. I think maybe it’s the latter.
As far as the Greens Job's bill, I could have a say on that; but not at this time. There is more behind that, though. 535M is a lot of the tax payers' money. with something being so big, not even the media is running with it right now. Why not? And please don't tell me,"because they support Obama." This situation is very news worthy with a great deal behind it.
The media is not reporting on it? Really? I see reports all the time on it. Maybe just not on the liberal media like MSNBC!!! My mind is open. Same as yours. We just have a different view of things. Sorry I am not as liberal as you. We both will have the choice in 2012. Not only is the media reporting it; the House is investigating it.
hidenseek,
I never said that the media was not reporting on the Green Jobs bill. I said they are not running away with it, right now. Yes, I believe as you that there is investigating going on- even within the White House. The investigating I'm speaking of also is Investigative Reporting.
Where did anyone see anyone peeing in the streets or pooing on a NYPD police car? The ACTUAL urine and feces? No one - was this stuff hyped up for shock value from the Americans?? I think it has worked
No pdwall I did see pictures of it. Online Blogger posted one of them. I also seen interviews with some of the protesters. People laying around on the streets. Trash all over the area. Most of the problems were in New York not all of the cities. The point is most of the protesters were not even sure what they were protesting. If the tea party had a protest even close to this type the liberals would be off the wall with the name calling. The tear party had no one arrested, the area was clean and they picked up after themselves. They had permits and followed the law. Yet, they were called all kinds of names. Not saying I support all ideas of the tea party. However; they look more like middle class America than these green haired dope smoking fools! Now reports that some are being paid to protest.
Paid to protest? This is ludicrous! If our government is involved, what have we allowed this country to come to? I am ashamed if this is true - next will be bloodshed in the streets!
Did anyone actually see the yellow streams or brown actually flowing? If not, anything can be photoshopped....where are these pictures? Are these actors that are paid to protest? I am astounded. Where was the toilet paper if there were no porta potties?????
pdwa
Regarding the paid protestors video…… well, you saw the live interview. I cannot say for certain if the video was staged, altered or rehearsed but I really doubt it. As for the man “allegedly” defecating on the police car, he could have been mooning the car, but I really doubt it. LOL.
The streets of Manhattan are not designed for massive events so there is no space for adequate rows of porta-potties (IF ANY)!
The NYPD is spending millions in overtime so I doubt the city is providing porta-potties to welcome the protestors.
The island of Manhattan is notorious for not having public restrooms for tourist, shoppers, ect. Restaurants do not allow the public to use their facilities and we all know how expensive it is to dine out in Manhattan.
Some people & businesses in the city are allowing groups of protesters to go to their apartments and shower or have a night of sleep indoors."
YMB
Obama did not invent class warfare, your're right! It has existed since the beginning of time even well before 2004. There was even hierarchy among the cavemen. IMO, Obama is a poor manager of class warfare and may even be plating it as a political strategy.
A good manager gets out in front of things!
Obama does not get out in front of things! Three years ago he worked on “his” health care bill during a critical time of the recession while completely ignoring the economy. He just introduced his jobs bill three weeks ago. A good manager gets out in front of things!
I do not see Obama on TV, Internet or print encouraging the protestors to make their point as is their right but keep things clean & civil. He does not need GOP approval for this!
New York City is the capitol of the world.I do not see Obama getting out in front of things. This is why America is falling behind.
“I do not see Obama on TV, Internet or print encouraging the protestors to make their point as is their right but keep things clean & civil. He does not need GOP approval for this!”
When have you ever seen a president… Wait… Excuse me… Give a name of any president who has gotten out and encouraged and has been intimately involved with protesting. It is their right to protest. They should already know to keep things clean and civil, it should not take a president to remind someone of the law as well as manners and consideration for others. If they cannot keep things clean and civil, that is what the local municipalities are for. There is a time, a place, and a season for everything. When there comes a time, when the President of these United States, need to address disorderly conduct, he won’t hide behind the White House. He’s just not doing it when you feel he has to; but according to you, he should ask you how high should he jump and how low should he go?
Warren Buffet released his 2010 earnings today, $62,855,038
If the first thing that comes to your mind is; God Bless him I wish I could earn like that, then you are a conservative.
If the first thing that comes to your mind is; that bastard, I want some of those earnings, then you are a liberal.
hideinseek,
You do not know me well enough to refer to me as a Liberal. I vote according to who the better person is for the job. I have voted Republican as well as Independent. Just because I don't agree with everything you agree with as far as Obama is concerned does not make one, one way or the other. But…you are entitled to your opinion. What matters is I know who I am.
I still have not gotten sufficient back-up (no pun intended) for peeing and pooing in the streets! That is one hard-up constipated juxtaposed feeling for crapping and pissing in the streets...that is where most FULL blooded Americans would draw the line. If there were no porta potties, nor toilet paper, one would make them wear diapers of Depends.....but depends how you look at it....did anyone actually SEE pee and poo coming out of anyone?????
pdwa,
C’mon, Do you really need to see the pee & the poo in 3D to beleive when you gotta go, you gotta go! Lol. I know these young kids have healthy bladders, but WoW! Its three weeks with no facilities other than the occasional hospitality from supporters and business owners simply trying to keep the stench down for their customers.
Your diaper comment was a good idea.
"It is the way of heaven to take from those who have excess and give to those who are in need. The way of man is the opposite : It takes from those who have little, and gives to those who have too much."--Lao-Tzu
Here you are, online Blogger. I found this for you:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405297020391430457662662245337575...
According to this, if Obama can give praise to the 'Occupy Wallstreet Protestors' and they are being uncivil, then he should have something to say about that as well. And if they are being as such, I don't think it would be a good thing to encourage them with praise and not reproach.
That says it all. They hope the class warfare move will help them divide the people and get out the lower end to vote. They have no record to run on. So start a class warfare and blame someone else for the problems! All Obama has to work with. I see his point. Hell, I'd do the same thing in his shoes I guess. His record...increase in welfare with record setting numbers on food stamps. Unemployment of 9% or better during his time in office. A divided country. 535 million lost in a jobs scam. The Mexico gun deals...still being investigated. More spent in his first two years than in Bush's 8 years. Credit rating dropping from AAA to AA rating. All under his watch...nice job! Give me 4 more years of this...NOT!
BUTT has anyone seen them pooing and peeing?
That is some movement they are accomplishing - bowel movement!
The“Pee Party” LOL!
They are now using Pocket Urinals!
Wall Street Protesters Don't Have a Pot to Pee In (Literally)
U-R-IN Control has recently step up to supply the Police and Sanitation Departments as well as the Wall Street Protesters, with Go Guy the pocket urinal to help control sanitary needs. With retailers refusing to let the protesters use their restrooms there is sanitary issue arising in NYC with no pot to pee in.

New poll...Romney 51%....Obama 41%. Looks like in 2012 it will be President Romney! Send the fool packing ASAP!
I hope Bernie Sanders gets fed up even more--and runs. And wins.
Bernie Sanders!!! So you are a socialist? That is OK, at least you admit it. My view Socialism never really works.
That’s OK Hideinseek,
the majority is rejecting any signs of socialism.
What’s really important here is; finally more & more democrats and pretend independents are starting to talk alternatives to Obama within their own party. Baby step!
My money my money my money, all those radical hippies, blah blah blah. This is how so many people are living (if you can even call it that) in America. Welcome to reality. God bless all who are suffering (please keep us safe), and God bless and keep all the protesters who are trying to make things better.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/13/suburban-povertys-dramati_n_100...
Who is the 99%? How are they helping the 99%? So it helps the 99% by blocking streets? By trashing the parks and the streets? Will it not be most of the 99% who will pay to clean it up and repair the damage left behind? So that helps the 99%? Who pays for all the over time of the police that is a result? Oh..Ya..most of that 99%. How much business is lost in downtown stores and restaurant's? Could that cost those business owners? Are they not part of the 99%? The real question is who is behind all of this? Who is putting money into it? And why?
Why Wall Street? If you were going to protest then why not DC? Is it not true that 90% of those working on Wall Street in reality are a part of your 99%? They are office workers, middle class Americans that are just working a 9 to 5 job. Many of them also have lost their jobs. What is it that Wall Street can do? They do not write bills or laws. Yes; it is true that the big money on Wall Street will give money to politicians in hopes of favors. So should we then not be protesting the very people taking the money and doing the bailouts? I'd say the protest should be on the Capitol and the White House in DC! Just seems misplaced to me.
The American economy is so bad that Angeling Jolie is thinking of adopting a American baby!!!
Put a sock in it for a spell JT....let us rest a bit.
do any of you remember this song?

hits home.............
Hideinseek I agree.
While the protesters are busy occupying Wall Street, Banks and the CEO’s,,,,, Senator Chuck Schumer’s NYC’s office is a ghost town.
Although I agree with the growing movement, the protesters are targeting and impacting all the wrong people. The right location in this case is less than 4 miles away.

This is a National and now becoming a Global problem. Why is this all falling on Mayor Bloomberg’s shoulders? Also, where is Charles Rangel or any of the NY reps?
Congress still Stinks!
Do you really think your blurb/blog will make a diff? Psshaw! Lady get real and with it!
@pdwaLL8
What do you think will make a significant difference besides reminiscent music from you tube? BTW, why are you on the warpath today? Nobody was insulting or attacking you.
@Hideinseek,
I love “the economy is so bad” jokes! Here’s my favorite……
The economy is so bad; the mafia had to lay-off judges.
lol
What is Occupy Wall Street about?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcjeUFodYfQ&
What an AMAZING day we're witnessing throughout the world today!
Now the liberal left nuts are looking for someone new to blame...gave up on blaming Bush and the GOP now lets blame Wall Street. This report is so fare left that no one can see to the right! Forget that Obama took millions from Wall Street and that Wall Streets gives more money to democrats than republicans! He says we have millions unemployed, millions on food stamps and entitlements. I agree with him. Yet, he fails to tell you that this was under the watchful eye of the democrats and Obama! No now it is all Wall Street. What the hell can Wall Street do?
IMO, a flat tax or some version of Cain’s tax simplification plan could eliminate the need for IRS accounts/agents and the tremendous backlog for sifting through millions of complicated audits, adjusted & amended tax returns. The federal government could then shift all its energy in investigating who is living in poverty through no fault of their own and who is living in poverty by choice.
I could be wrong, so I need to study the 999 plan a little harder.
The way I understand the 999 plan is that the millions of people living at the poverty level will still pay no income taxes and, the 9% proposed sales tax is not an additional sales tax; it replaces all current sale taxes. So the argument for Cain’s 999 plans hurting the poor is only a liberal diversion to still go after the rich to pay more in taxes.
Not really. The federal sales tax would be on top of your state sales tax. It is also on food. It would hit lower income hard. I also do not think it would ever really pass. They do need to re-write the tax laws and lower rates and close loop holes...as most of the GOP has been calling for. I like Cain...but I do not feel he is ready for the job as President. We made that mistake with Obmam. As VP maybe. I will still vote Romney at this point. Yet, my dog would do better than Obama!LOL
Thanks, Hideinseek.
I just read Cain’s 10 page 999 analysis and agree we do not need another 9% sales tax on top of existing local sales tax especially when it comes to food & medical.
Thanks, Hideinseek.
I just read Cain’s 10 page 999 analysis and agree we do not need another 9% sales tax on top of existing local sales tax especially when it comes to food & medical.
Why are they not protesting GM and Chrysler? They were bailed out. The banks paid the Govt back...not the auto makers! Don't use your computer, cell phone, Internet or other electronics and turn off your cable. Shut down mean Corporate America and tech. companies! Oh! I though not! Be sure to burn your credit cards. How long would America last without banks and Wall Street...4 weeks maybe!
A little reality. These protest are a big set up. The protesters are just being used by the big money of the left. The unions are behind a lot of it. Why? A distraction foam Obama's failure to create jobs and turn the economy. Obmam feeds the unions tax payers money. They in turn feed him. Obmam himself is a Wall Street guy! He bailed them out and takes millions from them. Some of the protester's are even being paid. Most are just fired up by the brainwashing from the left and don't even know what they are protesting. If you were to ask most of them what Wall Street was and how it works they would look like deer in the head lights! Why would Obama and his friends not like it? Takes the heat off him and he hopes will fire up his base...politics!!
Could Obama being setting the stage for a new world order?
"The new world order will be Socialism. The individual will be subservient to the State. Rights and power reside in and derive from the State, not the individual. You will have no liberty or rights...the State will look after you for your best interest. The Govt becomes involved in every aspect of your personal life. Private ownership of land will be abolished. It will be what is best for us all! We need to be looked after! Already in the US those who support the Constitution, Patriots and Militia are ridiculed as crazy and dangerous! Todays environment is being used to get people to accept Socialism as necessary!" Say No More you may be on to something I fear. If you want to reform the Govt and create a new Govt how best to do it than by feeding off those in the most need. The more poor you can create the more sheep you have to follow you to slaughter.
Lolol You sheeple and all your dim-witted theories are really funny!
Thank you. Yet; this is not my theories. It is the theories of many others. I am just keeping a open mind as I was told on here to do. Just a school of though! Lets hold on and see. Well we see the Govt first reforming unemployment laws? You will work for your check? Then laws to reform welfare? You will work for your benefits? The Govt will decide what work and where. Will large groups of people join this program and in time more and more are dependent on the State for their basic needs? Will we then accept socialism as a need for the good? Who knows in todays world anything is possible is it not?
Masn222...Do not worry it is only a school of though. If I were to really want to move this country toward socialism I'd first have to destroy capitalism and corporate America and how could anyone really do that? I am not sure. Yet; I think I'd start first with the lower classes and build up a hate and envy toward wealth and capitalism. We need to have self-sacrifice for the good of all. The State should have the power to regulate, tax and redistribute the wealth of those that work...for the fair share to all. No that will never happen!!!!
Hideinseek, that’s funny. This comment from someone who thought Tier 5 was a real theory! I guess she thinks she’s an expert on theories too now, lol
Msananoymous222 just called millions & millions (maybe a billion) people dimwits. Remember she can only see into the future fourteen weeks at-a-time. One world government is a very plausible theory.
Lets hope America wakes up before it is to late. Freedom and Liberty can be taken for granted. How much of your Freedom and Liberty are you willing to give up. I fear more Americans are willing to do just that...without knowing the real cost.
Gee, couldn't see THAT one coming.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2011/10/16/cain-has-long-ties-to-koc...
It is Ok masn222...Cain is not going to get it. It will be Romney. Yet; just to note here, if I were like the liberals I'd call you raciest! I know you are not. Just saying!
On Line Blogger...Correct me if I am wrong. Yet; under Marshall Law, Executive order 11051, elections could be suspended?? We have already had one lady Governor say that maybe elections should be held off so those in Govt do not have to worry about re-election and can get the people's job done. She backed off those statements when called out on them. Yet; we can see that it is in the mind of some. So if the people became "out of control" and for the safety of all they could use Marshall Law to gain control. It only takes one Presidential pen to do it. If I understand it?
Stossel has a show on fox...interviewing the protesters. Most are so clueless. Have to LMAO. Some saying the Govt needs to take care of us.
Did Stossel ask them where they went to the john? Or if they were using those pocket urinals? What about the defecating on the NYPD car?
The 99%!!! No there is also the 53%. I am part of that group. I pay Federal taxes. They say they are mad about the banks being bailed out. OK I agree. Yet, I am mad that the Govt and Obama bailed them out! They seem misplaced with their protest. Then none of them seemed to know that the banks did pay back the money with interest. So the Govt made money on the bail out! They had on idea of that point. They are so uninformed!
Unbelievable! Where did they go to the bathroom? Did they say where they are going in the cities across the U.S.A. as they protest?
Just google the 53%...You will see a lot there. They are the one's that work and earn what they have. They envy no one. They hate no one.
What will googling 53% get me to? Did you see any shots of anyone defecating or peeing on Stossel's show?
no but if that is your thing I am sure on the INTERNET you can find it! They got a lot of sick shit...google your heart out
JT......It's NOT my thing but you rallied on and on about the filth, defecating and wizzing in public! And I haven't seen it nor heard it on TV is all.
All this week, Chicago local news has been featuring Illinois union official’s illegally triple dipping pension funds. Yet, Progress Illinois has not done one article on it because it puts them in a bad light.
The same thing is happening with the Wall Street coverage. The mainstream media will not show protesters urinating & defecating on the streets or private property because it would put the movement in a bad light. Maybe now the protesters have better access to borrowed facilities and pocket urinals or just better waste management in general. But in the early days of the protest this was not the case.
The unions are also putting money and some control in the protest. Big money from the liberal left is involved!
I would imagine the unions and whomever else is funding the protesters would pay for the permits & insurance so port-a-potties can be placed in Zucotti Park especially now after NYC cancelled evictions. Also, since Michael Moore encouraged civil disobedience, maybe he can be on stand-by to bail out protesters who get arrested or, set-up a pay pal account with Mayor Bloomberg to bail out offenders from Traverse City Michigan where he lives. LOL.
Romney's Plan. Taxes...Lower corp tax from 35% to 25%...yet, also close tax loopholes and reduce corp welfare. Give companies more incentive to invest in the USA. He supports a cut, cap and balanced budget. Supports a balance budget anmendment....Soc. Sercurity..Work to keep it solvent---raising the age and reducing benefits to the very weather enrollers....China...Declaring China a currency manipultor....Obama Care...Repel it!....Regulations...Would dispose of Dodd-Frank bill day one. (The bill that has given us more bank fees). Regulatory relief for businesses. Allow oil drilling..inceasing jobs. A fast track for approving other types of energy permits. He gets my vote. That is are only hope to turn this economy. Wonder Boy had his 4 years and where are we?
Obama the Great Hypocrate....He is acting in contradiction to his own beliefs. His words..."They are giving Wall Street a free ride while you suffer."....Really who is "They"? Obama was the one that bailed out Wall Street and the banks. He bailed out the unions. Now I am not saying that it was 100% wrong. The Banks did pay the Govt back with interest. More than we can say for the auto companies. (Who we seem to not protest! OH, Ya, they are unions...Got it) So that makes him a hypocrite or maybe he just feels we are to dumb to get it? He took and is taking millions from Wall Street for his election! That is odd is it not? LOL This protest is a bought and paid for scam to redirect the heat from him. Big money and unions using poor people for their own gain.
Twenty (20%) of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -23.
Obama’s old/new strategy.
To campaign around the country crying that congress (including his party) will not pass another stimulus package filled with the same short term gimmicks. Also, listen to how many times Obama says today in North Carolina, they… they…they (referring to congress) desperately trying to separate himself from any accountability to this economic crisis.
We may not have to repel the Obama Care bill. It is starting to fall apart. They now are saying it is unworkable. Can not afford to pay for it. Would take more people enrolled in the program than the whole work force of America to pay for it. Now maybe Nancy P can take time to read it! Another big success of Obmam!!

I think unemployedworkers.org should be renamed someunemployedworkers.org.
This is my favorite line: "It would be unthinkable for Congress to cut-off this vital lifeline for so many hardworking Americans who are struggling to find work when jobs are so scarce."
And so those OTHER millions of people who've been without benefits for so long, whose vital lifeline was cut off, and they were hardworking Americans, and they're struggling to find work when jobs are so scarce? What do we do about benefits for THEM? Since, you know, it's unthinkable, and Congress did the unthinkable ALREADY? (Never mind that NELP fails to even recognize that fun fact.)
Do we just let 'em die? Guess so. Not that that would be unthinkable or anything.
Maybe it should have been worded to support the unemployed they are speaking of. As a general statement, it comes across as thoughtless and kind of hypocritical.
LMAO...Michael Moore...the anti-American...who hates Capitalism and loves Cuba over the USA..will once again cash in on Capitalism and make his millions off the dumb liberals. Got to give him credit. He knows how to use the system to make a dollar! The hypocrite!
This would be interesting.
Huff Post...Left Wing Liberal Movement for Socialism! Obama using tax payers money to campaign on his Black Bus tour!
Except the article is about the questionable campaign financial dealings of Herman "if you don't have a job, it's your fault" Cain and Mittens "I was unemployed, too" Romney--and not that fare left liberal, Obmam. Maybe your raciest.
[Maybe it should have been worded to support the unemployed they are speaking of. As a general statement, it comes across as thoughtless and kind of hypocritical.]
I agree. I haven't been a fan of NELP for a long time (basically since they purposely dropped the ball for the 99ers the first time around), but this phrasing just left me speechless. It's as if an entire HUGE segment of the population doesn't exist anymore, or at least not in NELP's eyes (and Congress's eyes and our President's eyes). Really pathetic.
I agree, it is pathetic how NELP, Congress and President Obama all have been ignoring addition benefits for the 99ers going on two years, (19 months to be exact). Nonetheless, I only wish more unemployment advocates focused on what was truly needed all this time; jobs and job creating policies. Although I disagree with many of the Occupy Wall Street protester’s demands, I do admire how they are focusing on jobs.
WE ARE COMING TOGETHER ON THIS BLOG! That is what it should be about = NOT DIVIDED!!!!!! Yea...we are making progress! Except porta potties and pocket urinals....let's go!
I believe in united for the people! And job creation! We are making progress....happy days are in the future on here!!!!
This bears repeating. It's as applicable (perhaps even moreso) in late 2011 as it was in late 2010.
http://www.prlog.org/11114714-do-afl-cio-working-america-and-nelp-advoca...
“This bears repeating. It's as applicable (perhaps even moreso) in late 2011 as it was in late 2010.”
At which point does it become obvious that congress and public opinion have put the brakes on unemployment extension benefits past 99 weeks? (I’m not saying this is right or fair, it’s just a fact)!
At which point does it become apparent that after a reasonable amount of time of advocating for jobless benefits without successful results, one should shift its focus to advocating for jobs and the common sense policies which would create more decent paying jobs?
Let’s say just for the sake of argument that some form of a tier 5 is enacted. The eligibility requirements will most likely mimic those of Georgia’s new system of performing some kind of work in exchange for small demeaning amounts of continuing unemployment compensation benefits. Now that sounds a lot like a real job! SO, why not simply spend more time advocating for real decent paying jobs.
Now, IMO this thinking is more applicable (perhaps even more so) in late 2011 as it was in late 2010.
Online Blogger...Msan222 complains; yet, she gives no solutions for the problem. Is she advocating just for more checks pass two years? Can or should the Govt pay benefits pass two years and if so for how long? In reality how long can we pay benefits? Will the benefits then just become another welfare program? Maybe we should just pay every American a income, working or not, for life? I am not sure what her solution is! She sounds as if her goal is Socialism-Marxist form of Govt. The Govt should take care of all needs of the people. Maybe she would like much bigger and more powerful Govt. Maybe the Govt should take over the banks, the cooperations and all business in America. They should control all the wealth and then hand it out based on need...who decides the need? Maybe that would be the top dogs in Govt? Take the wealth and redistribute it? If that is the goal just say so and call it what it is...Socialism. Truth is many on the left and even some in Govt would accept Socialism and many in the protesting groups have called for it. It is one solution! Just would not be my solution!
The tea party wants less government.
The occupy Wall Street party wants more government.
The majority of Americans want less government.
This is going to be one interesting upcoming election year.
To every registered voter who gets to the polls in 2012, I say; thank you!
To every person eligible to vote and does not get to the polls, I say; shame on you!
This is the kind of thing I do not understand about liberals..."the rich do not pay their fair share of taxes"? The rich already pay as much as 45% of their income in Federal taxes. 48% pay nothing. So explain to be how they do not pay their fair share! And I know that you will argue that the 1 % hold the vast majority of wealth but let me break this down with simple math. Joe makes 40,000 a year and pays 2,000 in taxes...about 5%. Then Mike makes 1,000,0000 a year and pays 30% or 3000,000! That said Joe may end up getting all of his 2,000 returned if he has kids and qualifies for earned income credit. And even more truthful is that many Americans pay nothing in taxes and still get a refund on April 15th!!! So I ask again ...what is considered their fair share? A liberal spend just like the one that is saying the GOP will cut off social security and throw grandmother over a cliff!!
IRS report..."the latest data shows that a big portion of Federal income taxes are shouldered by a small group of the very rich." The 1% earn 19% of the income and pays 37% of all Federal taxes. The top 10% pay 68% of Federal taxes. The bottom 50% pay 3% or nothing in taxes. Bush tax cuts...when we compare rates paid under the old system to those paid after the Bush tax cuts, the rich are now actually paying a higher proportion of income tax. The IRS data shows an increase of more than 100 billion from the wealthy in 2005 alone. Yet, did the poor and middle class get hurt by the Bush tax cuts? NO! If you were to examine the Treasury Dept. analysis of how much would be paid without the Bush tax cuts and how much they really pay the rich are paying more. Without the tax cuts the rich (that 1%) would of paid 35%. With the Bush tax cuts they are paying 37%. The deficit is not a taxing problem it is a spending problem. Yet, if you tax the rich more will you not get more money? NO...not always true. The rich..(that 1%)...can move their money out of the US if they feel it benefits them. Bill Gates took tens of millions and moved it to France. When New York increased the taxes on the rich with State taxes many of them just moved. The State of New York then took in less not more in taxes! When CA raised the tax rate on business many moved and took the jobs with them. A lot of them to Texas!
I am SO proud of her. I hope she keeps speaking out about what NPR has done.

THIS IS DEAD IN THE WATER! ADOPT A PET FROM A SHELTER TODAY!!!
October 20, 2011
There are 16,000 jobs up for grabs in North Dakota right now, with 3,000 in Bismarck, where unemployment is at a stunningly low 3 percent.
http://www.hapblog.com/2011/10/boom-unemployed-flock-to-north-dakota.html
The New World....I wonder how long it will take to get into Webster's????! Ineptocracy...a system of Govt where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers. The New World Order of Obama and the fare left Liberals!
Washington's unemployement agency to lay off 222 workers in January
The entire work force was 2600 back in June 2010. Pretty soon they'll have one guy in a room trying to answer all the calls.
They remark about having to wait in lines to sign up for unemployment! Really? You can sign up over the phone or the INTERNET today. In reality you can get two years of unemployment without ever going into a UI office today at all. Hell most are even just looking for work search jobs on the INTERNET. I guess you could get a check without even leaving your home once. They do check on some job searches; yet, very few of them. I know one person that has been getting it for over a year now and told me she has never turned one resume in to someone in person. Gets most of her 3 weekly job searches off Craig's list!
Maybe now that the Federal Govt is not supporting the States with stimulus dollars we will see more lay offs in Govt. The private sector was hit hard....the Federal (Obama's) money went to the states and the unions. Maybe that held them up and now the cookie jar is running empty! All of Obama's job plans are always directed toward the unions...Police, firefighters and teachers. Have nothing against that group of Americans. However; what about the other 90%? I understand he owes the unions!!
I know that the democrats are trying to look at Obama's Jobs Bill piece by piece -- have they brought up the portion that extends UI benefits? We are already half past October and December is just around the corner.
No. And remember that that portion does not include any further benefits for the 99ers (aka the elephant in the Oval Office). It's merely an extension of the eligibility for benefits, much like last year's debacle.
They are indeed going piece by piece, and next up is this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20111021/us-senate-jobs/
.
We're also heading into the holidays. This is the Congressional calendar. Note the recesses. http://cdn.rollcall.com/media/newspics/calendar120910.pdf People who have not maxed out their benefits--and who are not paying attention to how these things work--may be in for a VERY rude awakening just in time for the holidays again.
This is too cool for words.
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/entertainment/post/2011/10/pete-...
Pete Seeger made some great music. So I will not judge him on the fact that he was a member of a (official) Communist Party. He said once that Fedel Castro is a friend of the poor people! Was a supporter of Lenin and Stalin. Yet, today he is saying that he regrets and understands that his realities of Stalinism may of been off base. He now supports a Socialist movement agenda. Maybe now he is just a Socialist and not a Commie. He did fess up to his mistake about his support in the past for the USSR. So one doesn't have to agree with his socialist politics to enjoy his music!
Things are not going well in IL. We've hit double digits again, higher than the national average.
http://progressillinois.com/news/content/2011/10/20/illinois-unemploymen...
@msanon222 -- that is exactly my concern. I think that some of the people who are currently receiving UI benefits don't how to calculate their tiers or weeks accurately.
