Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has let Comptroller Constance Kravitz go over major tax revenue reporting errors made by her office. In June, Preckwinkle's staff found the discrepancies amounting to an overstatement of about $90 million in tax revenues.
“We had the $90 million misstatement on her watch,” Kurt Summers, Preckwinkle’s chief of staff, told the Sun-Times. “But it was just time for us to go in a different direction.”
Kravitz was recently under fire at a Cook County Board meeting for an error-filled report her office released on the number of furlough days taken by employees. The former comptroller was hired by then-board president Todd Stroger in September 2009.
