The unemployment rate in Illinois reached 10 percent in September, according to new data by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The unemployment rate ticked up a bit last month from the 9.9 percent rate in August. The number of unemployed people in Illinois went up by 10,500 to 663,300.
The industries that lost the most jobs in September were construction, financial services and information. The sectors that saw the most growth were education and health services as well as professional and business services.
