The party filed for a permanent injunction on the map Friday night claiming that Democrats from Springfield to Washington were working on the effort to use the remap process as an opportunity to "more Democratic pick-ups.
Because Democrats are the majority in state government, they were free to set the boundaries for the legislative map after the latest Census figures were released. As a result of the remap, a number of Republican congressmen are will run against each other like U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-8) and U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-14).
