Fed-up residents of the 11th congressional district are protesting against U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger's focus on what they say is his latest set of priorities — not theirs. Led by Stand Up! Joliet, the residents say Kinzinger is more interested in his re-election campaign than in his current job as a representative of the 11th district.
Calling it a McJobless Tour, the group says Kinzinger is touring McDonald's restaurants in the area to collect signatures to be placed on the ballot in the 16th congressional district; which is a result of the remap. Kinzinger's constituents say he is focusing on that, instead of the jobs crisis in the 11th district. From a Stand Up! Joliet announcement:
As Representative Adam Kinzinger continues to focus on his campaign for a new district instead of working to promote desperately needed job creation in his current district, unemployed constituents will be joining him on his "McJobless" Tour of area McDonald's. The Congressman will be visiting the fast food restaurants in an attempt to secure signatures for a petition to be placed on the ballot in a newly reorganized district.
The protest will take place tonight, Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the McDonald's located at 1055 S. Water St. in Wilmington.
