United Wisconsin, a coalition of state residents and organizations who want to see Gov. Scott Walker recalled, is reporting that some 50,000 signatures have been collected in the first 48 hours of the official petition campaign.

“Over 50,000 Wisconsin residents signing recall petitions in the first 48 hours is a clear sign that Wisconsin is not going to stand for Walker’s lies and destruction of our state.” said Meagan Mahaffey, of United Wisconsin.

The group also reports that 20,000 people have downloaded petitions from recall web sites.
