Former governor Rod Blagojevich, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison last week on corruption charges, will get one extra month of freedom before having to report to a federal facility to be begin serving his time. Blagojevich will now report to prison on March 15, instead of February 16, as he was originally ordered.
Judge James Zagel agreed to Blagojevich's lawyers' request to give the former politician more time to help his family move from their Ravenswood home to a new location. The prosecution objected to the request.
UPDATE (3:46 p.m.): The judge also recommended that Blagojevich serve his sentence in a low-security prison in Littleton, Colorado. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons will make the final determination as to where Blagojevich will serve out his sentence.
