Mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to show his support for gay marriage with a group of 69 other city mayors tomorrow at the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The city leaders are expected to unveil the Mayors For The Freedom To Marry initiative tomorrow in Washington D.C.
"The bipartisan panel of mayors from every corner of the country standing up in support of marriage equality just underscores the strength of the movement," said Bernard Cherkasov, CEO of Equality Illinois (EQIL), according to GoPride.com.
The mayors will pledge to push for marriage equality while opposing any federal or state legislation that goes against allowing full rights to the gay community.
