A bipartisan legislative panel wants to give its two cents before Gov. Pat Quinn closes the Jacksonville Developmental Center in Jacksonville. Jeff Schoenberg, (D-Evanston) and chairman of the Commission of Government Forecasting and Accountability, says that the governor's timeline for the transition of health patients from state centers to community care is "exceedingly unrealistic."
Quinn's office announced last week the closure of Jacksonville Developmental Center and Tinley Park Mental Health Center in Tinley Park. Public employees union AFSCME echoes lawmaker concerns that the governor has rushed the facility closure process.
