The group New Schools for Chicago held an expo at Soldier Field Saturday, in conjunction with Chicago Public Schools where more than 100 elementary and high schools set up tables advertising their schools to thousands of parents. New Schools Chicago bills itself as a group "shaking up the public education system" by "bringing top-performing charter schools to communities of high need."
CPS's work with New Schools may alienate some neighborhood groups, who argue the school system needs to first focus on traditional neighborhood schools in high-need communities, instead of charters.
