Democratic challenger in March's primary race for 39th district state representative, Will Guzzardi, has filed for a recount in his loss against incumbent Maria "Toni" Berrios. Guzzardi is trailing Berrios by 125 votes, having garnered 49.2 percent of the 8,000 votes cast. We reported on his plans to file for a recount last week.

"We will be concentrating on precincts where we heard reports of inconsistencies on Election Day," explains the Guzzardi campaign in an email. "The process will enable us to retabulate the votes in those precincts, and to learn more information about what transpired there."

The recount is set to being Thursday at 9 a.m. with the Guzzardi campaign adding that even if the recount is unsuccessful, "we believe the people of the district deserve to be sure that their voices have been fully and fairly heard."
