The National Guard will take part in the upcoming two-day NATO summit in Chicago this May.
According to the Chicago Tribune, up to 600 of Illinois National Guard members will be stationed in the city to perform a number of tasks, including helping foreign dignitaries move about town. Another large troop of soldiers will be just outside of the city conducting a domestic response drill, and will be available to be called to the city, if needed.
