Rev. Jesse Jackson will be among what the Mental Health Movement coalition bills as "dozens of religious leaders" that will speak at 3 p.m. today outside a soon to be closed mental health clinic in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood. The coalition has spent more than a week holding protests, rallies, and events outside the Woodlawn clinic, one of four mental health centers the Chicago Department of Public Health plans to close April 30, in addition to centers they already shut down. The city plans to keep six mental health clinics open and transfer patients to these centers -- and, eventually, private community providers.

Jackson is probably the biggest name to support the coalition of patients and advocates, though U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-Chicago) has also stood in support. Today's actions outside the Woodlawn clinic will conclude with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m.
