At least 45 NATO protesters were arrested Sunday evening after a brawl with police at Michigan Ave. and Cermak Rd. Protesters, including some of the arrested, were seen bloodied or limping after the clash with police that included the use of batons. Police officers were also injured, including four that were hospitalized; including one who was stabbed in the leg. About 500 people were reportedly near the intersection when the fight broke out with Black Bloc protesters, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Police say about 2,000 people were at today's protest and march, while event organizers say about 5,000 people were in attendance.
Some of the protesters arrested today have already been released with no charges filed against them, according to Fox Chicago, though others still remain in police custody. Nineteen people were arrested in protests earlier this weekend.
