Police Release NATO Protesters Amid Cheers

The Chicago Police Department arrested 45 protesters during yesterday's march to the NATO summit, with many arrests being those protesters who refused to step back from the U.S. Secret Service and police-constructed NATO security perimeter. However, several protesters were released early this morning from a North Side Chicago police station.

The released protesters were greeted with cheers from about 200 people. It is not clear how many arrested yesterday are still in police custody.
