U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Chicago) is the latest legislator to call
for U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Chicago) to reveal the nature of the
health issues that prompted him to go on medical leave. While Gutierrez says he understands Jackson's desire for privacy, an explanation is still warranted.
"If I don’t show up to work, I don’t have this immunity or this shield
of privacy because it’s about my job," Gutierrez said to members of the press, according to the Sun-Times. "Any time I haven’t shown up to
work, I’ve given you a clear answer about why it was I wasn’t there. And
it if wasn’t to your satisfaction, you have editorialized negatively
A rep for Jackson told the Sun-Times that an explanation for the legislator's absence is coming soon, possibly later today.
