If campaign fundraising reports are any indication, then the 11th District Congressional race between U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert, a Republican from Hinsdale, and Democratic challenger Bill Foster of Naperville will be a tight one. Foster raised more money than Biggert between April and June, but the incumbent has $1.54 million total available compared to $1.27 million for Foster. The 11th District largely covers Chicago's western suburbs.
Meanwhile, there is a big money disparity in the 10th District, which covers part of Chicago's northern suburbs. U.S. Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) reports having $2.1 million on hand, while Democratic nominee Brad Scheider of Deerfield has about $567,000 available. The moderate Schneider spent significant money fending off multiple primary election challengers including progressive favorite Ilya Sheyman.
