Bloomington-Normal and Springfield are listed as two of the top 10 cities to find a job in a ranking by job site Beyond.com. According to the list, those seeking work in sales, health care, the restaurant business or the trucking industry may have a better time finding work in those towns, with Bloomington-Normal ranking third on the list and Springfield ranking eighth. The list is based off job postings in metro areas across the nation and federal jobs data.
“These aren’t hires that are necessarily happening yet. We describe them as leading indicators,” Beyond.com's vice president of marketing Joe Weinlick told the State Journal-Register.
Weinlick added that technology, sales and health care jobs lead the market in available positions in states across the country, including Illinois. According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security, the health care and social services sectors have overtaken state government as the leading employer in Springfield, with data showing 17,700 health care and social services jobs and 17,200 government jobs in June.
