SEIU* Local 1 janitors who work at the 147 CPS schools open as non-instructional, strike contingency sites showed their support this morning for CTU by wearing red, joining picket lines, and, in some instances, not working. The local clarified in a press release that many janitors will work out of respect for the health and safety of CPS children.

"Teachers are fighting for fairness for themselves and fairness for all workers not only organized labor, but the vast majority of working families in the city stand with the teachers and will be with them until they reach a successful and just contract," said SEIU Local 1 President Tom Balanoff.
