Democratic candidate for Congress Tammy Duckworth released a new ad yesterday that shows her pedaling a modified bicycle with her hands and telling voters she will "go the extra mile" to maintain Medicare and make college more affordable. The ad draws attention to the fact that Duckworth lost her legs, which happened in 2004 when a helicopter she piloted was shot down in the Iraq War. Duckworth's opponent in the Illinois 8th district race, U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh (R-McHenry), has criticized his opponent for focusing too much on her military service and not enough on the issues.
