U.S. Rep. Bob Dold (R-Kenilworth) and Democratic challenger Brad Schneider had their first, and only, debate yesterday in the closely contested race for Illinois' 10th congressional district representative. At a debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters and held in Lake Forest, Dold said that he was to the left of the GOP on several issues including environmental safeguards for Lake Michigan and women's reproductive health.
Schneider, though, alluded to the fact that Dold, who narrowly won election in 2010, has for the most part sided with his Republican colleagues. This includes casting ballots for the Paul Ryan budget and opposing the Affordable Care Act.
