Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will almost certainly not visit Chicago prior to the November 6 election, since Illinois is viewed as a surefire win for President Barack Obama. However, Chicago businessman Ron Gidwitz will hold a fundraiser for Romney in the Windy City on Friday, November 2 with the goal of generating at least $1 million for the former Massachusetts governor.
Gidwitz runs a Super Political Action Committee that gives money to Romney and Republican Congressional candidates. Super PACS are not allowed to directly coordinate with political campaigns so it bears watching what Illinois Republicans are, and are not, in attendance. Nine House Republicans will appear at the fundraiser, according to the Tribune.
