Several hearings to expand gambling in Illinois have been scheduled, according to State Rep. Bob Rita (D-Blue Island), who is pushing for increased gaming posts in the state. Rita is now spearheading the inititiave to expand gambling in Illinois following Gov. Pat Quinn's veto of previous proposals due to legal and ethical concerns.
Gambling expansion proponents are hoping to see five new casinos added to the state, including in Chicago, and slot machines at O'Hare and Midway airports as well as at Illinois racetracks.
The first hearing is scheduled for January 28 in East St. Louis at the Casino Queen riverboat casino.
