"The War in Afghanistan – Seeking Clarity"

Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 14:00

While Chicago was one of the nation’s earliest and most visible opponents of the Bush administration’s Iraq policy, even among anti-war activists the way forward in Afghanistan is not clear. To inform and hopefully clarify Chicagoans’ perspective, CAWI, Chicago’s best known anti-war group and DePaul University are partnering to sponsor “The Way Forward in Afghanistan - A Friendly Debate” featuring long time activist, author and anti-war leader Tom Hayden and Peter Manikas of the National Democratic Institute, an international organization that works to help emerging nations structure democratic governments and processes.

This forum is the first of a series of forums co-sponsored by DePaul University’s Center for Black Diaspora, and Chicagoans against War and Injustice (CAWI). Additional sponsors include: American Friends Service Committee, Hyde Parkers for Peace and Justice, Lincoln Park Neighbors United for Peace, Logan Square Neighbors for Justice & Peace and Women for Democracy and Fair Elections.
