Meet The Democratic IL-10 Candidates

An introduction to the Democratic candidates in the 10th Congressional District.

Just tuning into the upcoming primary election?  Want to acquaint yourself with the top-tier candidates?  Below is a run-down of those Democrats running in the 10th Congressional District on Chicago's North Shore.  For each candidate, we've provided a brief bio, an informative video, endorsement information, and a link to the policy questionnaires they've filled out.

JULIE HAMOS

Julie Hamos has represented Illinois' 18th House District since 1998. Among her legislative accomplishments are efforts to reform funding for the Regional Transit Authority, enact environmental and consumer protections, and expand access to reproductive, mental health and long-term care services. Prior to elective office, she pursued a law career advocating for families and public interest issues. She also served as the first staff attorney to a U.S. House Ways and Means subcommittee.

Hamos has racked up endorsements from the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, and Pioneer Press. She's also received backing from EMILY'S List and AFSCME Council 31. Check out her full endorsement list here.

DAN SEALS

Dan Seals waged two campaigns against Republican 10th District Rep. Mark Kirk both in 2006 and 2008. He failed on both occasions. Since then, Seals has continued to work as an independent business consultant and lecturer at Northwestern University. He previously worked as a high school teacher. And is the recipient of a Presidential Management Fellowship. Seals also  served as an Aide to the Assistant Secretary of Commerce and was an Economics Fellow in the Senate.
