The Recount Timeline

It's likely that there will be a recount in the GOP gubernatorial race, but don't expect the Illniois State Board of Elections to start counting ballots anytime soon. First, officials must make the initial tally official. That won't happen until March 5.  Then, assuming there is enough evidence of missed votes or disenfranchisement to justify a full recount, that process can "take months to complete," according to Cook County Clerk David Orr.
