After building, staffing, and launching Progress Illinois in early 2008, I’ve been truly privileged to spend the last two years running the show here. It’s been an exciting and ever-eventful stretch. I was honored to accept a Studs Terkel Award on behalf of PI last month and was encouraged to see our readership double in 2009. Needless to say, I’m extremely proud of the work we do on this site and how our audience continues to grow.
Later this summer, however, I’ll be stepping away from day-to-day operations at PI to pursue a new opportunity in the world of online journalism. I do plan to remain on staff in an advisory capacity for some time thereafter.
This means that we’re now seeking applicants to fill my role as editor and continue the work of expanding PI’s reach and impact. Those interested should have at least 3-5 years of journalism experience, be familiar with PI’s style of coverage, and be comfortable working in a multimedia newsroom. Knowledge of the Illinois political scene is a must. Management experience is a plus. Those interested can view a full job description here.
To apply, please email a cover letter describing your interest in the position, a resume, and three clips to the following address: jobs (at) progressillinois.com.
