As a result of the ongoing state budget impasse, Northeastern Illinois University announced Tuesday it will be implementing furloughs starting Monday as a means to cut costs.
Students at Carterville's John A. Logan College held a sit-in Monday and began what they say will be a week of demonstrations against the planned layoffs of school workers.
