A myriad of questions continue to surround a video that recently surfaced in which the president of a powerful club of Illinois business leaders said some of the group’s members had actively worked to talk down the state’s bond rating in order to drive up public pressure for pension reform. Unite Here Workers Oppose Pritzker Nomination For Commerce Secretary

Senate confirmation hearings for Chicago billionaire Penny Pritzker’s nomination for U.S. Secretary of Commerce are scheduled for Thursday, but workers from the her family-owned hotel chain are already voicing their opposition to the selection.

“This is not somebody we want in Washington; this is a lady whose business model hurts workers,” said Demetrius Jackson, 25, a lifelong Chicagoan and convention service houseman at the Hyatt Regency Chicago for six years.

Neighborhood School Advocates Serve School Board Members With Suspension Notices (VIDEO)

In the wake of an announcement that some 50 schools will be shuttered across the city, approximately 70 protesters visited the homes of three Chicago Board of Education  board members this morning to push back against the actions.

Accusing them of “bullying” parents, students, teachers and the community, members of Action Now, some of which have children and grandchildren enrolled in CPS, left “suspension” notices on the board members lawns.
