Taylorville Republican Rodney Davis declared victory last night in his nail-biter of a race against Democrat David Gill in Illinois' 13th congressional district. But as of early this afternoon, Gill had still not conceded despite the fact that all polling precincts have reported their results.
Via the AP tally currently has Davis with 136,596 votes, or 47 percent of the ballots cast in the race, while Gill has 135,309 votes, or 46 percent of the vote. This puts Gill, an emergency room physician, 1,287 votes behind Davis, a former staffer for Illinois Congressional Republican John Shimkus. The other sevent percent of the vote went to Independent John Hartman, a Madison County businessman.
