Community organizers on Chicago's Southwest Side are holding an event on the Affordable Care Act Thursday evening as an attempt to educate area residents on what it takes to sign up for health insurance coverage under the "Get Covered Illinois" marketplace.
The event, organized by Southwest Organizing Project (SWOP) and Greater Southwest Development Corporation in partnership with Holy Cross Hospital, Sinai Health System, the Inner-city Muslim Action Network and Know Your Care, is looking to "connect more than 45,000 uninsured neighbors to the nation’s first comprehensive health care bill," according to an announcement of the event.
The educational event will take place at St. Turibius Church in the Lower Church Hall at 5646 S Karlov Ave. The event is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more info on the event, contact Maggie Perales, of SWOP, at 773-471-8208 ext. 18.
