Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan issued a warning about scams related to the upcoming issuance of driver's licenses to immigrants.
Madigan reiterated that the only place to get driver's licenses is at Secretary of State facilities. The Illinois attorney general made note of scams at driving schools that are allegedly charging immigrants $1,000 for for so-called "universal licenses" that are supposedly available for use in a large number of U.S. states. Madigan explained that no such license exists.
Another phony driver's license scam aimed towards immigrants involves the promise of attaining a license faster if the interested parties pay hundreds of dollars for express processing.
