A new poll shows South Side Ald. Natashia Holmes leading her 7th Ward runoff opponent by 16 points.
Holmes, who was appointed to the 7th Ward seat in 2013 by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, garnered 58.3 percent of respondents' support in the survey, conducted Wednesday by Ogden & Fry on behalf of Aldertrack.
The survey of 398 respondents showed Holmes' challenger, IT manager Gregory Mitchell, polling at 41.7 percent.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 5.01 percent.
"Incumbents in Chicago are very difficult to beat without a strong catalyst and much money, so it appears Holmes is likely to be retained in the 7th," reads Ogden & Fry's polling memo.
