State Sen. David Luechtefeld (R-Okawville) says he will not run for re-election in 2016.
The 74-year-old longtime southern Illinois lawmaker, who was elected in 1994, would be required to move out of his home if he were to run in 2016 because his home was remapped out of the 58th district that he represents.
Luechtefeld, who is the assistant Republican leader in the state Senate, will see his term end in January 2017.
