The St. Charles City Council is set to vote on a proposal later this month that would let local bars and restaurants offer video gambling.
Aldermen are split on the controversial issue, and the deciding vote at the October 19 council meeting is likely to come from St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina, who is expected to support the video gambling plan.
The revenue-generating video gambling proposal comes as St. Charles officials prepare for an anticipated loss of city funding from the state because of Illinois' ongoing budget woes.
