A Springfield-based provider of senior services says it will have to close its doors on Fridays beginning in November because of the state budget impasse.
Leaders with Senior Services of Central Illinois -- which has received no state funding since Illinois entered the new fiscal year without a budget on July 1 -- said employees will see a 10 percent pay cut beginning next month as well.
Senior Services of Central Illinois offers community care, money management and nutrition programming, including home delivered meals, as well as transportation and a number of other quality of life services to seniors in Sangamon, Logan, Mason and Menard counties.
Officials with the organization say the service and employee pay reductions will remain in effect until the state budget situation is resolved.
