Mitshubishi Workers Approve Final Contract For Plant's Final Days

Mitshubishi workers in Illinois have approved a contract with the corporation to continue work for the next several weeks until the plant's sole vehicle sees the end of production on November 30. No details have been released regarding the content of the contractual agreement.

The Normal, IL plant will shutter in May, but the facility will stop making its only product, the Mitshubishi Outlander Sport, at the end of November. The contract covers the plant's approximate 1,200 workers until the plant's closure or sale of the facility, the latter of which United Auto Workers (UAW) leaders are hoping to see happen. Even still, UAW leaders are encouraging their members to start looking for other job opportunities.
