The SEIU* Illinois State Council endorsed former Illinois congressman Brad Schneider in the state's 10th congressional district race on Wednesday.
Schneider, a Democrat, lost the 10th district seat to U.S. Rep. Bob Dold (R-IL,10) in November 2014. In 2012, Schneider defeated Dold, unseating the then-freshman incumbent.
"Brad Schneider has a record of leading on key issues important to working families such as raising the minimum wage, passing comprehensive immigration reform, and expanding workers' rights," SEIU Illinois State Council President Tom Balanoff said in a statement. "We're proud to offer him our endorsement and look forward to continuing the work we started when he is back in Washington."
Schneider will face Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering in the March Democratic primary in Illinois' 10th congressional district.
