AFSCME Council 31 endorsed Kim Foxx for Cook County State's Attorney on Monday.
Foxx, a former Cook County Assistant State's Attorney, is one of two candidates challenging incumbent Anita Alvarez in the March 15 Democratic primary. Donna More, a former state and federal prosecutor, is also vying to unseat Alvarez, who has come under public scrutiny for her handling of the Laquan McDonald case.
Foxx previously worked as Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle's chief of staff and guardian ad litem with the Cook County Public Guardian's Office.
"I am grateful for the support of AFSCME Council 31 members, who work hard to strengthen our county and our city," Foxx said in a statement. "I look forward to partnering with working people across the county to build a fair justice system that works for everyone."
