Proposal Calls For Replacing McCormick Place East With Lucas Museum

A proposal to demolish Chicago's McCormick Place East in order to provide space for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is reportedly under consideration by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The plan would involve bringing the Lucas Museum to the south end of the McCormick Place East site, leaving in place existing underground parking, storage and heating and cooling systems, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The proposal also calls for additional expansion at McCormick Place.

Last year, the Chicago City Council approved a plan to build the Lucas Museum on lakefront property just south of Soldier Field, but the proposal has been caught up in court due to a lawsuit filed by Friends of the Parks.
