The Chicago Public Schools district is preparing for a potential teachers strike.
In the event of a teacher walkout before the end of the school year, the district has made contingency plans that include canceling final exams. The district says graduation ceremonies will continue as normal if there is a teachers strike. CPS principals have also received contingency plans from CPS involving grading and progress reports.
The Chicago Teachers Union could go on strike in May, at the earliest.
CTU's House of Delegates is expected to meet next week to consider plans for a potential strike.
Both sides remain in talks over a new contract to replace the one that expired June 30.
