Gov. Bruce Rauner's chief of staff, Mike Zolnierowicz, is leaving his position to work on state legislative campaigns for the Illinois GOP.
Illinois Republicans hope to reduce the legislative supermajorities held by Democrats in both chambers during this election cycle.
Zolnierowicz will leave his chief of staff position by July 1 and will be replaced by Richard Goldberg, Rauner's deputy chief of staff for legislative affairs, according to Politico.
Zolnierowicz was a top Rauner campaign adviser and previously worked for U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL).
