After the November election, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) will reportedly determine whether to launch a 2018 bid for Illinois governor.
"He said after the election he will sit down and seriously think about it," a person with knowledge of the situation told Politico Illinois.
Durbin has told reporters that his attention is focused on the 2016 election, though he has not ruled out an Illinois gubernatorial run.
"The election for governor in Illinois is about 30 months away. I say to those who are focusing on that, they've lost sight of the most important election that is going to be just a few months from now for president of the United States and senator from Illinois," Durbin stated on Monday. "That is where I'm focusing my attention and my energy."
