Activists To Protest Over Chicago Police Union Contract

Representatives from the NeverForget Campaign plan to call for reforms to the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police union contract during a Tuesday morning demonstration.

The NeverForget Campaign, an "alliance of groups fighting for police accountability and community-led justice," will gather at Chicago's Union Park and march to the nearby FOP headquarters.

Members of Action Now, the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Men and Women in Prison Ministries, the Progressive Labor Party, Southsiders Organized for Unity and Liberation and the Workers Center for Racial Justice are among those expected to attend the protest.

"[A] coalition of community based organizations are coming together to send a unified and powerful message to the FOP," reads an announcement from the NeverForget Campaign. "That message is we will #Neverforget the role CPD has played in the state sanctioned occupation of, and killings in poor black and brown Chicago neighborhoods. Declaring that #EnoughisEnough, community groups will march to FOP headquarters to present demands to the FOP calling for specific changes to the police union contract and other police reforms."
